Let me know if I missed anything, thanks.
Is this a challenge?
I suddenly feel the urge to post a similar guide to my build on ItM. Well, I suppose I was due to do so eventually, anyhow.
Great in-deph view of all the different skills, add a bit on where to be and team synergy and it would be perfect, thanks Jumper.
Thanks Jumper! Always great to have pro players like yourself making guides! Keep it up!
Tried this build in PvP after practicing a while in the Mists and I just got owned. Huge play style change without my shadow arts traits like blind on stealth and heal on stealth.
I think I wasn’t dodging enough coupled with frequent weapon swaps. Going to shelve this for now and go back to S/D + SB for PvP and S/D + D/P for WvW.
Thanks for contributing this build and guide though Jumper.
Hey Kabuki, make sure to check out Jumper’s Stream and some of his recorded videos. He has tutorials on using this build that are very helpful. I will link one that shows you evasion frames as it was a tremendous help to me.
how does it work now with all the S/D nerfs?
Thanks a lot Jumper! I know D/P very well atm, and I kind of needed this to getting a good grasp on S/D. I appreciate it.
Updated with more gameplay tips (class specific). More coming later tonight or tomorrow.
Thank you very much for this guide, Jumper.
Good work!.. i usually do FlankingStrike>Slice>dodge away>basilisk>pre cast LS then infiltrator’s signet or steal>FS>LS again so i can hit him Larcenous twice while he’s in basilisk stone form
ah still figuring out what utility shud i use in team fights, that ShadowRefuge or ShadowStep cuz i luv shadow step stomp while finishing… SR seems good but i hate it when they’re spamming AOES into that radius of SR while im reviving allies sometimes it downs me
i luv the Signet of Power trait in this build gains 5stacks mights for 13secs when u use a signet, cuz the 65% crit chance (no fury) is too much, so i guess no need for additional +7% crit chance trait (while hitting @ back/side)

Yeah I had already watched that and it is helpful. I keep that in mind with my current S/D + SB build for sPvP. However, using his build, I’m forgetting to add the weapon swaps although it gives initiative and endurance.
I could use some examples of skill rotations including the weapons swaps.
I thoroughly enjoy this build, however it has an extremely high skill ceiling, more than any other thief build IMO. This build is meant for players that have a true understanding of game mechanics and all other classes and builds to be used at it’s full potential.
good guide i will be sure to check this out when i am online tonight, thanks for the effort.
Anyone use this for Wv3? Any changes? Thinking about giving it a shot…

i did this on zerg few times cuz i don’t WvW alot . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4ur1vFlMOE
jumper just made an amazing guide with 1,776 views now but still only has 17 replies!?? LOL
how does it work now with all the S/D nerfs?
before my rotation was FS>LS with 3,3, evade continuously but now its alot harder it shud be 3>3>#1+evade(cancel animation of #1 skill but it still hits while evading) or sometimes 3,3>1,1>evade>1 remember the last slice hits hard too like Larcenous strike!

Ive been using this in WvW recently too, mainly just for lulz, but I use shadowstep and shadow refugee so I can get away from random zergs that find me, and roll for ini in the last skill slot. So signet recharge time trait is out, and precision to vit trait is in. I also have issues with damage output, and people trying to run away from me, so I tried using caltraps on dodge for a bit, and that didnt work out as well as I had hoped, so I went back to fury/might/swiftness on stealth. I use PVT weapons and armor, berserker trinkets, lyssa runes, energy/force sigils.
Random terribad performance on my part:

people that don’t wanna fight you usually aren’t good. those ones I don’t even consider roamers.
Roamers are people who roam by themselves and WANT to fight you. the D/P thieves who roam around to flip camps solo in the borderlands and that will actively hunt you down are true roamers.

It seems that spamming FS+LS+Slice does such lousy damage. How in the hell do you kill anything?
And is all that evasion requiring perfect timing worth giving up all the great attacks you get from attacking out of stealth? Seems with shadow arts you can chain daze, blind, and crit backstabs/heartseekers.
I might just suck at it but evasion based S/D seems kinda meh. Or is the occasional boon you steal really that strong?
Tried this in spvp, different from my d/p (obviously) but I did very well with it, great build.

i play almost same as you did @ first time i tried that about 1 and half month ago. still now i can’t do it perfectly sometimes i did lots of mistake… this double S/D gameplay is on different level i gotta say its really for advanced thief users hard to master, watch my dueling S/D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7moYkWLPK8
Hi Jumper. Thanks for your build. Do you do WvW at all? If so, would you keep the same build or make modifications?
Hi there. Can anyone tell me, which gear should i buy for this build in wvw? I’m almost level 80, but still noob in pve and wvw. That build works pretty good for me in tpvp and i wanna use it in wvw. Thanks and sorry for my english.

I’m using a mix of mostly valkyrie gear (chest, legs, all accessories) and the rest is berserkers with ruby orbs added to my armor. For food, I use the omnomberry pie (66% chance to steal life and +70 Precision) and Quality Maintenance Oil.
This allows me to run with these stats:
~19k hp
2.1k Armor
3k Power
~60% crit chance
103% crit damage
I also keep a few extra pieces of berserkers/valkyries for various other slots for when I want to get a certain amount of crit chance or HP.
So far, this setup has been working out pretty nicely.

This guide is awesome! Opened up a lot of new possibilities for me, I usually play D/P
This is a really fun build to play
You’re always constantly move. The pace is so different from D/P or D/D. It’s just so much more visceral.
Really hard to master though >.<
Too bad the condi meta can melt them faster than e.g. warrior. Majority of the time feels like lyssa runes and signet of agility just doesn’t work for thieves with this spec.

Umm.. that’s not true… even w/o lyssa runes. I use eagle btw.
Ummm…yeah…troll someone else rather than using that format to answer. Anyways, have seen a lot of new comer thieves use jumpers spec but vast majority are variations that move away from his build. Then you have the d/p 10/30/0/0/30 being another option, which a lot of people seem to take.
Odd, i never actually read the guide but my build has extreme similarities.
I go for 0-30-0-25-15 and use a SB with Endurance on swap.
Everything else is about the same.
After trying your build for a while I can safely say I get wrecked while using it compared to S/P or D/P. I also watched one vid where it looked like you had switched back to D/P, do you still use this build in tournaments?
The S/D + S/D build is a build with a huge skillcap (compared to D/P which is easy mode).
You can’t just switch to S/D and think that it will work perfect from the start without practicing it (like a lot) since you rely a lot on evade rather then stealth and those are rather vulnerable (even though you have more evades then most other builds with this).
People often see S/D as mindless “3 spam” but there is a lot more to it then just that.
Also if you play S/D with another set of S/D you have to be more careful about what fights to pick, since escaping won’t be as easy.
Though i think that, if mastered (or at least well practiced) S/D is the best weapon-set at the moment. (D/P is just good because every noob can use it, but the skillcap is reached much sooner than with S/D)
