So I was planning to make a build with S/D and capitalize on the daze and needed to know how much the Sup.runes of the mesmer’s 6th slot 33% Daze Duration and Sigil of Paralyzation’s 15% stun duration affect it.

I know that the sigil’s 15% stun duration changes tactical strikes daze from 2 seconds to 3, but what about the mesmer runes and also do they stack?

From memory, they both work, but I’m not sure about the mesmer runes… I know for certain that the sigil of paralysation works.

As far as I’m aware, they don’t stack together, and if they do, they don’t add any further duration by having both equipped. I’d recommend just using the Sigil and using some better runes/orbs to replace of the mesmer runes.

Also remember that they only work in PvE/WvW so don’t expect to be able to use them in sPvP.

Well the rune of mesmer already has the stats I’m looking for and the 6th bonus seems like a real help. The rune is twice as powerful so wouldn’t that add 2 seconds instead of the one from the sigil?

No it wouldnt. Dazes and Stuns work on durations of full seconds. Tactical strike dazes for 2 seconds, now you add 15% and with that it dazes for 2.3 seconds. Since dazes and stuns take full seconds, the game rounds it up to 3 seconds.

Since the daze duration in sPvP got nerfed down to 1.5 seconds, you will only achieve a 2 second daze there with tactical strike, even with the sigil and the mesmer rune.

Thanks Panacea. I should have mentioned that I was talking about a wvw/pve standpoint. Since it will cost money to try it out and test it I wanted to ask here if someone knew.

I’m curious if you have isolated each item to see which one actually gives the +1s bonus duration.

If you are correct that it is from the Sigil, then you just found a bug since Daze and Stun are completely different thing. So why would a Stun Sigil work on a Daze skill.

Unless you are mistaken, maybe we don’t have a bug but instead the +1s on duration actually coming from the Runes and not from the Sigil.

Well, the sigil works on both and it’s probably by design.

Should I assume that since Tactical in PvE/WvW lasts 2s base, a Minor Sigil of Paralysation would have the exact same effect as the Superior one?

I don’t think having both Sigil and Runes to extend duration are cummulative in effect.

Unlike Conditions, Control Effect can only be extended upto 33%. So having both Sigil and Runes, the game will only take into account the largest extended duration and not both.

One way to test this is;
1) Unequip items with runes and sigil
2) Equip the sigil. Note the duration.
3) Equip the runes. Note the duration.

Now Equip the runes first, then the sigil noting the duration.

I’m currently not in the game so I can’t test this, but I am almost positive that the duration will not change if you equip the runes first before the sigil.
