S/D better runes?
Not mesmer. (unless you rely on daze more than damage, then maybe)
Scholar is only good if you’re full HP most of the time, depends on your fighting style, but probably not worth it.
Not sure about ogre runes.
Divinity is good, but ridiculously expensive.
Ruby orbs is really nice and cheap as dirt.

Mesmer – only www|pve
Scholar – burst build
Divinity – so-so
Ogre – Stealth detect
Air – with http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Back_Fighting
Centaur + withdraw = perma swiftness
Ruby or ogre.
I don’t like divinity, they aren’t worth the price at all.
Or just Ruby orbs, very cheap and tons of damage.
I’m a big fan of Divinity, but I got my set when they were 2g~ a pop. Probably not worth the investment right now unless you’re looking at building a third/fourth exotic set and have the extra money. The key to utilizing Divinity effectively is to make sure you’re using every stat, though. Crit/Power/Precision/Toughness/Vitality are easy, you use those pretty naturally. If you’re not using heals or condition damage a good amount of the time, though, you’re not really getting the full benefit of Divinity runes. S/D doesn’t have any damaging conditions, for instance, so it may not be a good choice unless you’re running something like dodge/utility caltrops.
Ogre runes are really nice for a Power-focused S/D build, and the Rock Dog hasn’t given me away in Stealth yet since he’s mostly off doing his own thing and chewing on some poor Invader’s legs. The downside is that they’re a little over 2g each, with the 4% 6-set damage boost being a bit mediocre.

What you’re failing to understand is that 4% damage is much better than 4% crit damage. In fact, depending on your actual crit damage , the 4 raw damage is going to be better than a lot more than 4% crit damage.
