I have not tried this in game yet but it intended for Pve and WvW. It just an idea I am working with and I am not really al too familiar with s/p.

The build is predicated on generating a pile of interrupts which triggers those on interrupt effects. In theory , whil eit not that easy to pull of the timing to get an interrupt there so many sources in the build one can maximize the ones that take effect.

I take advantage here of the new sigils. DD as a rune I am not absolutley set on. The build will strip away boons and have a lot of tools to deny an enemy his actions.

Fianlly the title of the topic should read S/P and staff with Interrupts . I am not sure how to change that

I toyed with the same idea, but seeing that so many mobs in HoT are immune to interrupts a lot of the time, the DPS isn’t really there.

Willing to hear how others have experienced the interrupt build.

I tried an interrupt build with SP and PP, using Pulmonary Impact. It worked well in PvP (stronghold), and I imagine would work well in WvW too. But as Tom Gore mentioned, there are so many mobs in HoT that can resist interrupts the build loses a lot of its damage potential in the new zones. I imagine the same will be true of raids as well. They gave Daredevil a way to make good use of interrupts only to take it away by adding defiance bars to most mobs in HoT :/

I can understand champions and legendaries having defiance bars, but I think it is a bit excessive to give normal and veteran mobs the same thing. Maybe a better solution for these mobs would have been a kind of reverse defiance bar, so for example, the first interrupt works, but this fully charges the defiance bar, preventing a second interrupt straight after. This reversed bar would then naturally degenerate over time or if further interrupts are used. That way they could still have stun resistant normal mobs, and the builds that make use of interrupts would be more useful in most situations.

Alternatively, allow Pulmonary Impact to proc if the attack ‘would’ have interrupted? So even if the attack fails to interrupt, so long as it is not blocked, evaded or missed, the PI damage still occurs. In other words, if damage is dealt and the mob would have been interrupted, had it not had a defiance bar, the PI procs. Not sure if this is a good solution, but it does seem a shame to have this option only for it to be of little use in HoT zones.

Anyway, like I say, in PvP, and I expect WvW, it works well. I was dropping players very quickly with it. And I expect it will work well in core Tyria content as well, at least until they rework core mobs (if they ever do). But in HoT PvE content it loses much of its potency.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

I tried this on a condi build.
I used however, d/d and SB. I also slotted pressure striking, my goal being locking up the enemy as I do condi dmg to them. It worked kind of good for PvP, but not what you expect. However, locking people can be pretty fun. I will try this in a power build and see what’s up.

Just a word on this as I experiment in game with the various sigils.

I have obtained the Sigil of draining. In my current build I get 1033 heal in level 80 areas on interrupt. There appears to be no known cooldown unless it very low. If you can get off multiple interrupts in a row (a challenge to be sure) you will get substantial healing and that damage will add to pulmonary impact.

What the direct damage is as yet unkown. I expect it very much like leeching.The effect will proc on a SOH daze so in theory you can use this with mug and proc the daze, the heal off the sigil and life stolen along with the damage and heal off mug. If traited for Pulmonary impact a steal will inflict significant damage coupled with this sigil.

(The effects of the sigil do not appear to show in combat log. Rather you have to watch the screen to see the damage or heal)

This also suggests that a Sigil of absorption will allow you to steal three boons on a steal if you manage to interrupt and couple it with Bountiful theft. I have not yet tested it with impact strike but see no reason why it would not proc if you manage interrupts through that attack chain.

If you want to interrupt, staff and shadow art is great (staff stealthed skill knockdown for 2sec) ! but the build I made at the tome lacked dps. with blind powder and hide in shadow you can always enter stealth.
