Guild Wars 2

My friend used to play Thief in WvW, maining SB and using D/D for cleanup. She stopped playing Thief when they nerfed SB range and hasn’t kept up with all the changes. She’s taken up Thief again, but her build is way out of date. I was hoping someone could give us a hand.

Considering someone just getting back in to the game, and specifically looking to zerg, I’d recommend these things:

Access to Stability (through lyssa runes and basilisk venom, or through dagger storm)
High Evades (you will spend a lot of time “dodging through” chokepoints)
High Ini pool and regen (you’ll spend a lot of time exploding clusterbombs for aoe damage)

I would recommend, specifically for zerging, a combo of sb & p/p, to finish off single targets with p/p (can burst them,, can daze lock them.

Do keep in mind that this build is specifically for zerging, it will not be nearly as effective in small groups, or solo roaming.

Utilities are: Withdraw, Roll for Initiative, Shadow Refuge, and Shadow Step. These are all “oh crap!” buttons, and SR can be used for a burst heal, if you do a pistol unload from within the dark field (life steal).

Gear should be zerk, with valk or pvt mixed in for survivability, plenty of threads on gearing, featuring passionate people with lots of maths so I’ll leave that alone.
