SBow Nerf is Ridiculous!
http://www.youtube.com/user/randomfightfan/videos?view=0&flow=grid
I had a whole paragraph written and then quickly cleared it all out because they don’t listen anyway. I just want to state that I am very disappointed in their nerf of our SB as well which shots miss like 90% of the time now. Bad enough you may have got a few 400hp hits with it before but now almost zip. There is no other long range weapon to choose as a second hand – so we are stuck with it. Do any of the devs even play a thief? I’m beginning to think not.
With all the nerfs lately and buffs to other classes – the thief is no longer a slippery class and might as well be just a slippery snail.
Here’s the recap. Bow shoots and hits fine if the target is running directly towards or away from you but if they’re going even the slightest bit sideways, it’ll miss.
That’s how it’s suppose to be in the first place, the previous functionality is obviously a bug and this is the fix.
The only thing that needs changing is the projectile speed, it’s too kitten slow.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
The first shot I fired after the patch missed by mile on a running target. Since then I’ve tested it out more and it does seem to hit walking targets, such as open world mobs who are not in combat.
Auto attacks should really hit targets in plain sight. The thief shortbow is a light weapon used in mobile skirmishes. If it can’t do that then it is no longer fit for purpose. It will be ridiculous if longbows and rifles gets better accuracy than a thief shortbow in a mobile skirmish.

lol. So I guess this master bow user I made, that is good enough to bounce arrows from target to target, can’t aim slightly to the right or left to hit a moving target? Riiiiiiiiight. I don’t know how people are able to hit moving animals when they go bow hunting irl. Must be hacks.

That’s how the Ranger’s bow functions only their projectiles travels a bit faster. Rangers shoots at a faster rate using shortbow and most of them misses a moving target.
If you want a reliable ranged weapon, use gulp a pistol. :/

Except thief trick shot is equivalent of ranger Axe that works exactly the same.

Looks like crossfire needs “brought in line”, if it is 0.54 seconds basing it off crossfire, it should be 2.16 seconds!

Outside of condition builds or “cool factor” builds the most reliable range weapon would actually be the thief launcher, launch your thief at the target with one of many much more reliable skills and take down your enemies!
Impress your friends by buying the new deluxe edition thief launcher now with added survivability (disclaimer, new deluxe edition thief launcher only compatible with sword dagger build, not to be used as an opener, any loss of limbs, life or armour integrity are sole responsibility of the user)

That’s like the general problem with Thieves auto-attacks. Per attack is actually (animation time + activation time) where it should be (animation time = activation time), that’s why we take longer between auto-attacks than what is listed.

SB is trash now. I wont carry it even as a secondary from now on. %90 weak compared to other sets. Welcome to the era of S/D D/P thieves. See you next month in the S/D D/P nerf thread.
I put this also in the other thread on this;
This problem is ubiquitous with a number of the scepter auto-attacks. The guardian’s scepter is probably the worst of them all atm.
Welcome to the club guys!!!!!
For a good demonstration check this out,

@ vincent, do you not see the problem with the attack blatantly missing when your character is supposed to have batman level accuracy? If the attack was such a problem then why not make ranger arrows and guardian scepter “heat seek” as well instead of breaking the 1 slow moving projectile that actually works in this game.
If that isn’t an option, then make other slow moving projectiles lose their heat seeking. Perfect example of this is the jotun in arah p1. If we can’t hit a moving target then why should things like that hit?

It’s not much of a Trick Shot when you’re hitting the walls and floor around your target instead of the actual target.
Resident Thief
You trick them into thinking it might hit!

I’ve acknowledge the problem and I have posted in the other thread what I believe need to happen before they start tweaking anything.
It seems that Anet is doing a little house cleaning and re-classified Trick shot as the same as any other arrows projectile. But what they failed in that regards is that our AA arrows are not even traveling at the same speed as any other arrow, so that part needs to be fixed. If the projectile speed is fixed, I’m sure that there will be more hits. Also they need to fix the activation time, comparing it with Ranger’s SB AA, we should be firing much faster than them.
TL;DR
Our SB needs to fire and travel faster.

Not that it makes much of a difference to our short bow, but my guess is it was a change to the entire mechanic, game wide. I notice a lot of mob projectiles (like those in cursed shore) that used to home, I can now just side step rather than dodge. Helpful in PvE that’s for certain.
On paper it sounds fine, in practice it makes the bow USELESS. I didn’t know this until I tried it out. There was a guardian walking backwars…. super slow right. So he’s walking backwards and across from me at about 5-600 range so I start pew pewing away with my auto attack. Lo and behold, EVERY ONE OF MY ARROWS MISS! I shoot at him 7-8 times and each arrow flies in front of his face with obstucted poping up for every shot. Best part about this is, we were fighting on even ground with nothing to obstruct.
This is one nerf that I hope they fix fast. It broke my heart having to unequip my dreamer just cause it was wasting a weapon slot.

Not to be obnoxious, but in all honesty a gameplay video would prove your point much better than a verbal complaint. If people saw how laughable shortbow is at the moment, no one would be prone to thinking you’re exaggerating.
Also, have you tried opening with shortbow 3 and using trick shot while target is crippled or running interference for a small strike team? Does trick shot hit more if you shoot from a closer distance?

The person was walking BACKWARDS when he was walking across from me. That movement speed is significantly slower than a crippled target moving forward. I’ve made other videos about such things in the past but they’ve gone completely ignored. What makes you think this would be any different?

In order to focus your feedback about the recent changes to the thiefs 1st shortbow skill, we decided to close this thread, as there already is an older and still active topic about the same issue.
