Yes yes Jim feed the troll. I think he already contradicted himself once. Something to do with trying harder and challenge, though I skimmed through his post.
Challenge is no win with easy, Challenge is win and lose and try harder. Stealth is no challenge for no try harder, just stealth, stealth, stealth. Other player want challenge but no find stealth player. Thief hiding always, is that challenge? if all thief; only hide.. is ok for wvw and pvp long term? I ask you fight and you thief run and hide, is ok?

:P Well, clearly it’s challenging for you to realize some possible counters, and there are…
So without their realization, you’re losing. You gotta try harder (think a bit) to realize them . Once you realize them, you will win and lose and try harder to prefect them.
Or you can give up and QQ and wait for ANet to apply another nerf (as opposed to redo’ing the class), which will happen in a couple of months. It’s guaranteed, dont worry, just have to wait a bit.
He probably hasn’t been hit by my stab build yet.
Makes one wonder how quickly he’d switch the complaints from stealth to backstab. :P
66002 with long reach is hilarious against everything, but especially rangers. Full zerk, scholar runes, shadowstep + inf signet + steal with long reach traited is like a 3600 range port that can instadown glassy rangers and such. Who needs stealth in wvw.

Yeah, but panic strike is so good after the opener to actually finish off.
I’m not much of a fan of it since most people have a cleanse ready, and if they’re not already downed, they’re likely not going down without a more sustained approach at that point, but that’s just me.
Thief in it’s current state is such kitten it’s not worth playing unless your only purpose is to troll people with P/D or decap. It’s really annoying when you have such a large majority of players complain about a noob stomp class while ignoring the glaringly OP classes even the most seasoned players have trouble against (I’m looking at you, condition engi, PU mesmer and celery ele).

So basically, we’re meant to not play like thieves and eat damage. Got it. And because good thief players can handle themselves against other classes and not stand there to die in two hits, thieves are just OP entirely. Solid argument there. In another thread you didn’t even know thieves could stack might, I’m pretty sure you’re trolling or just ignorant…or just a serious case of l2p.
Thieves ARE squishy, they make up for it with big damage. And you’re pulling your “thieves don’t die” theory from a youtube video, where people cut out losing fights…and in case you didn’t notice, mango knew when to back off and when to re-enter the fight, he didn’t just run in guns blazing and one shot everyone.
There are cheese builds on every class and you’re never going to win every fight. Accept that maybe some thieves are actually capable of outplaying you, not because they’re OP or omg invis4eva noobs. Jeez, why can’t people lose with some dignity these days.

Sure, hit someone for 50% HP in 1st second of fight and then going to stealth – this is so poor, wondering why someone still playing Thieves?!

You can avoid magnet pull – it has 1 sec casttime and pretty visible “magnet” lines to you.
You never avoid Shadowstep+CnD+Steal+BS combo, because it instant and has 2 times bigger range.

Most that QQ seem to stand still in combat, so in their case neither is avoidable.
It was my fault for not dodging the magnet (half a sec to a sec after visible lines, I know) which I saw.
As soon as I landed at their feet I was downed. Basic rifle and toolkit combo, but combat log also showed static discharge(? Would have been downed without sd but still wondering how it was there, I know they improved combat log but it’s still really wonky or was dealing with dem hacks, I’m open for explanations, please) in between jump shot and blunderbus, which baffles me. Note we were the only 2 in the area. My reactions are usually competent, I dummied on the magnet though.
I accepted death because I had 13k, and it was zerker vs zerker, but gee. I’m curious about the timeframe of the combo because it was seriously instant after I landed. That and the static discharge in the combat log really threw me for a loop trying to break down what happened to me.

Soooo…. for now, just try to dodge the wire a bit better. Wait 2-3 more months (sept. was the last one was it?) for a “balance” patch to see what happens. If they resolve your issue somehow, great, if not well try to dodge a bit better/avoid engineers/roll one and just wait another 6 months. Feel free to post on forums about your progress/lack-thereof to attract others in the same situation as you, that generally makes people feel better, sometimes you scope up some helpful advice to help you progress. And just keep waiting for another 6 months.

I can’t engineer worth beans. Thief is my main. Far distant second is ele. Then mesmer somewhere 6 miles down. I’m having great fun playing regardless. I’m just curious about that one scenario I described… Anet can do as they will. Unless they make thief unplayable (removed) I’ll still be one, and here
SD engis take instant toolbelt skills. The burst is roughly 20k on a squishy. Also, there’s still one or two 100nades engi having fun even if the spec got nerfed to hell. Got oneshoted when i wasn’t paying attention to the stealth magnet pull.
