Scorpion Wire!
Extremely brittle thief, but fun to play
I know it’s a silly trait but in the right situations it is great. I only use in wvw, in a roaming group, snagging those pesky defenders that decide to rum and my steal or shadow step are on CD, this is great fun! Was doing a wvw capping group this morning, and sieging a keep and the opposing side kept trying to sneak in the keep, I just stood off to the side a bit, and snagged them back and had my way with them! Not a staple but a good utility to use in certain situations.. I wish I could pull people off of walls with it though!
If you’re catching runners with Scorpion Wire they need to be more situationally aware, you can literally dodge it by turning slightly while you run. And you can pull people off the walls with it, you just need a very clear shot and a very slow target.
Now they just need to add the voice to match.
“GET OVER HERE”
I wish I could pull people off of walls with it though!
You can. I used to pull down enemies from walls when Scorpion Wire was at 900 range, you just need to learn the exact timing.
I guess I need to have more patience. As for runners most always run in straight line! It’s lovely for Backstabs when you pull them in!

Surprisingly, I don’t use this utility sides from pulling single mobs from zergs of mobs in certain dungeons, and when I’m in a sPvP with lots of bunker (this needs to change ANet, bunker builds shouldn’t be allowed in a game with mechanics like GW2) guardians that like to sit in their bubbles.
It’s just too unreliable as it’s EXTREMELY easy to dodge, and glitches way too easily (stops pulling halfway because of invisible “obstacle”…or something else).
Stand in “invulnerable” area in WvW when a zerg is attacking in front of it … pull them in, dance

Yeah it can be fun there’s nothing worse for a player gettin’ Scorped. Be it from walls or the ground. Just like the venoms however you can easily miss wasting a ability entirely..sheesh..I’m going all into the abilities that actually work these days.
problem is : it can be blocked , so it’s pretty bad against guardians, it can be easily dodged , move slowly and if there is a difference of terrain level, your target will just fall on its butt and that’s it. Also the damage ? what is it, like 300 …?
Basically shadow refuge and signet of shadows are always in my builds, they’re too good so I spend my time switching between scorpion wire/shadowstep and blinding powder when I play.
Edit : the base damage is 122 , ahahah!
Scorpion wire is always in my setup when playing wvw honestly … It’s just too bloody fun Sure it sucks if I miss and get into a CD.. But I can live with it.

I wish this skill had a shorter cooldown considering how unreliable it can be in most situations.
Also, I feel it should do a lot more damage than it does (barely a scratch).
The animation could use a little work too…like after pulling the target to you, you uppercut/roundhouse kick it and knock it down. I think that would make it a lot more flashier and fun to use. If it’s done, then perhaps the damage can be broken down into 2 segments. One for connecting the wire, and another for the uppercut/roundhouse kick if the target is pulled all the way to melee range. The knockdown duration should be increased in this case because the player would be stuck in the uppercut/roundhouse kick animation.

It was just me and a hammer warrior one night outside the spawn in eternal battlegrounds with a huge group spawn camping us. It was fun slowly pulling them in 1 by 1 to the legendary defenders with the warrior just knocking them back for insurance lol. Most fun with scorpion wire ever , 2 vs 20 and we owned them lol
Scorpion wire is best for interrupting the heal. To me thats the real intention of slotting this skill if you dont have another interrupt at hand.

I love scorpion wire in WvW. It’s so much fun pulling people off walls, and pulling them in for the backstab.
