Scorpion Wire
This. Freaking this. There have been many times where my wire will just knock the person over and not pull him at all.
It’s same for magnet pull. Targets need to stand at edge and you need to be a little bit away from wall. I wish SW worked more like spectral grasp, SG actually knocks target to your direction, so it’s easier to pull target from the ledge.
I’m only using it for underwater fights atm, and it fails a lot.
Sometimes out of reach although the target is close enough (probably due to the wire shooting too slowly)
Sometimes… Obstructed for no reason, oh and by the way it’s hard enough playing P/P without having to deal with so many obstructed (not) shots
Sometimes it will just do nothing, not even a red fail message
Sometimes it will just interrupt the target but it won’t bring him back to me (still better than nothing)
And finally a few times it will work and make me a happy flower.

Agree.. Never works when it’s needed.
“Scorpion wire” need 2 second knockback.
It won’t work on moving target most of the time, and on almost any targets not on same level of terrain
good utility, along many others. used it once in wvwvw, was enough.

Since I get culling issues with Scorp Wire I stopped using it. It goes like I shoot rope out, wonder if it did hit or was obstructed or out of range or evaded, then I see that it did pull the guy in, but I can’t see him, and guy only appears when he’s already running back away.
Wire has always been buggy. They increased the range to, I assume, make it fail less but it still didn’t help it. As you said it will just knock them over and not pull, or say obstructed. “Out of range” when clearly not issue was what they probably tried to fix with the 1200 but it still does it, not as much though. Wonder if it’s mechanics are related to same reason why pistol range makes no sense as well. :P
Very unreliable utility skill, though it’s nice when it decides to function as it should.
has anyone else noticed another result of wiring someone: it pulls them but not the entire way (i.e. not all the way to you), more like halfway? This only happens if I’m wiring someone that is on the same level as me.
i personally love this skill, basically the only thing i can contribute in wvw but its loads of fun wiring people off walls when they are dumb enough to stand at the very edge.
Yeah, it’s not a reliable, easy-to-use skill, but if it actually works as you’d like, your opponent will usually be in deep doo-doo. Whether you think that’s worth it to keep the skill slotted is up to you: personally, I’m quite ambivalent on this.
Oh, and in WvW, it can be quite fun not to pull people off of walls (in my experience, most people know how to handle this by now), but to pull wounded people out of their groups and into yours. That’s one opponent who’s quite unlikely to be revived after getting downed then.

It’s great ability but it needs tweaks for sure.
It’s only EVER worked for me on an equal elevation or when the opponent is on a lower elevation than me. In those cases, the opponent flies off the edge and goes right under me, usually dying. Any higher, it’s just a knockdown.

Yea especially when most of spvp map have irregular surfaces .__. they really need to fix this skill!
Yeah, I used to love Scorpion Wire as much as Shadowstep. It was a great setup for SW > Stealth > Backstab. And I can only imagine the face of all the other players I yanked off edges and watched them explode. But the last time I used it, it continuously just knocked them down without pulling.
I’m very offensive when I play, so I actually prefer to have Scorpion Wire working compared to using Shadow’s Refuge. Idk, SR just doesnt suit my playstyle.

The few times I have gotten scorpion wire to work I’ve used it to pull enemy commanders into our zerg and it’s awesome.

Is it me or does it seem like the scorpion wire deployed by the thieves in Thieves Guild seem like always works no matter terrain differences or anything. I know it can still be dodged but whatever wire the thieves use its better than the one we get.

Well seen as i have the time i have been investigating this more, my conclusion…its broken just like all the other thief traits and skills.
Scorpian Wire works with the thieves guild indeed…they never miss!
They can pull enemies who are moving ……….however when i use it, the enemy has to be standing still….otherwise it will either miss or they will just be knocked down/interrupted.
