Each classes downed state has at least one skill that interrupts an enemies stomp (WvW/PvP), shadow escape is supposed to be the thief’s, but often times you cannot shadow step far enough away and the enemy’s stomp goes unhindered.
I would like to see Shadow escape always cause stomps to stop, because very often (especially when fighting on uneven terrain) you don’t get the opportunity to interrupt the stomp at all.
In fact even better would be using the aquatic drowning skills in place of the terrestrial downed skills (a bleeding auto-attack, a knockback, and stealth would be a great change)

Ehm… we do in fact have one of the best finish interrupts already, since it cannot be blinded, blocked, dodged, stabilitied, stealth stomped, obstructed by summons, it doesn’t require a target, it interrupts several targets, it can move us to a somewhat safer position and it’s instant cast. The only thing i know of that can counter it is instant teleports (such as steal) and being unlucky with the terrain. Aside from that we do often get skill 3 up, which is also a guaranteed interrupt and allows us to use our quite powerful stealth attack.
Ever tried an engineer downed bar (for example)? Skill 2 is a single target, long cast pull. Skill 3 is an AoE launch which won’t recharge in time unless the enemy attacks you several times, decides to finish you, gets interrupted, attacks you several times again and then decides to finish you again. Both of them are very easily countered by many of the things i mentioned above.
Sure, our downed bar is not as good as the elementalists, but that one is just plain broken.

all they have to do is make it so invis=unstompable. skill 2 should invis AND move you. wait isnt there another skill like that? oh yeah its mesmers downed skill they get invis…teleport AND a clone . we just move a lil :P fail!

PS. plz fix eles downd skill so they cant re enter towers. if u think about it 30 eles could defend any tower against 100 people just but AOEing the front and doing quick quick dmg then misting back inside to a group of 5 others reviving people. rinse …repeat.

Shadow Escape is extremely good at stopping stomps.

The ability to choose the direction and distance it travels means you can stop any number of people stomping you most of the time (Uneven terrain may prevent this)

It has on many occasions provided me with enough time to use Smoke Bomb to again stop any number of stomps regardless of Stealth/Invulnerability/Distortion/Stability.

Compare Shadow Escape to something like Mesmer’s Deception skill which teleports randomly (Which can allow them to still be hit by the original stomp if it doesn’t take them far enough away) and requires a target to cast it on.

The only upside to Mesmer’s Deception is that people often waste time stomping the Clone and that the Mesmer and the Clone can stack up a crap tonne of Confusion on a target making it unsafe for low health players to stomp…

taril …only if on flat terrain. ifin a valley or around rocks. the ccamera angle is very debilitating. its rather tough on many cases. i think they should let us bring out the max distance from camera a lil more. seems too close.

Still better than the similar skill that Mesmers have.

Which not only has the same limitations (Due to both being teleports) but also is uncontrollable and requires a target to use.

I’ve not had much issue with camera angles myself to be honest, the only times I’ve failed with Shadow Escape is when there’s rocks and stuff on the ground that the teleport get’s caught on.

Really? Guardians, Necros, Warriors, Rangers, Engineer can all be countered with blind/stability. Thief, Ele and Mesmser are the only ones that have mobility while downed, granted the mesmer can’t control where it goes; but thieves have a great downed state.

And as stated above, the Ele downed state to go back into a tower after their downed is beyond broken.

Invis does already make you unstompable (by interrupting incomming stomps and not allowing players to start another stomp until stealth is over), but i might be just be misunderstanding your point.
Teleport + invis on downed skill 2 makes me think of the beta (3-4 sec stealth + random teleport on skill 2, 10 sec recharge, the enemy did barely have enough time to stomp you even if you appeared right next to him)… that was just hilarious…

Actually, there was always just enough time to stomp a Thief if you ran directly to them the instant that they appeared and didn’t screw around. It was one of the first nerfs to our class caused by QQing because people sucked even more at sPvP than they do now.

I haven’t encountered stealth stopping people from stomping me once they’ve started, they continue their stomp.
But really my point is that the movement from skill 2 should interrupt stomps regardless of how far the shadowstep goes, because often terrain will prevent you from moving far (the camera angle can make it difficult to) and a person will continue their stomp with their back to you or the like.

I haven’t encountered stealth stopping people from stomping me once they’ve started, they continue their stomp.

Yes, they do, but if you are still invisible when the stomp finishes, it will fail.

On my mesmer i’m using Mass Invisibility all the time to save players from getting stomped. Thieves can do (and are doing) the same with Shadow Refuge.

Easy way to stomp a Mesmer,

Start the stomp, wait a second for when you think the mesmer is about to activate deception and cancel it and start again. By the time the animation finishes 9/10 he will still be close when he pops out of stealth and your finisher will work.

That’s why thief downed is better.

Lol, sorry to say good sir but, thief downed state is one of the best. Stability cancels most classes. If you’d rather be thwarted by stability which almost everyone has on their bar, like almost every other class, be my guest.
