Shadow Refuge
Because that’s why it’s programmed since beta days. ^^
Oh, then I am just dumb. I thought you could leave it prematurely and still benefit from the first pulse or two. My fault!
You can enter it late = be in it for 2 seconds and leave = you’re stealthed for a shorter time – but as long as you leave the circle before the house disappears you’re revealed.
Maybe you confused these two things.
This is to give other players the opportunity to counter it. If you see the shadow refuge icon, you can use a knockback or launch to get them out of the circle and reveal them.
So like already said, you have to wait the whole duration.
It doesn’t make any sense when you think of it as a skill by itself. But when you consider how much stealth it gives you then you come to realize why leaving it has a penalty.

It is one of those trade off skills. If your worried about getting hit out , instead of leaving throw some well placed dodges in there or go to the safest edge and only bail if you absolutely have to.

At beta it was buggy and would reveal inappropriately. They patched it so a player could stand in SR and gain stealth proportionate to how long they stayed in the “hut”. Then they patched that to work the way it works today. For a brief time, SR was crazy good now it is just a giant target best used for distraction or protecting downed players.

A wild Sneak Gyro appears! At least they addressed the cooldown, but you’re still talking 40s of stealth. SA is a good skill with healthy counterplay, but it really feels like the cooldown is too long.
Edit: SR not SA

34s I think and that assumes nobody blows it up which is relatively easy. Prior to the patch it took 5s or so to kill the gyro, they had another 4s and then redeployed 10s or so later. Now there is 30s or so till they can redeploy.

Lasts 30s and pulses 4s stealth every 3s. So it’s either 40s total or 36 if you don’t get stealth on activation (I’ll have to check to be sure). Like I said, the cooldown change helps, but the counterplay for SR leaves the users revealed with a 60s cooldown. That’s pretty harsh. I think the gyro is in a mostly ok place, but SR needs a lower cooldown.
Shadow refuge doesn’t need a lower cd it needs to give you stealth and immunity to reveal while standing inside of it. Even on low CD it would be useless without improvements to the actual ability itself.
immunity to reveal while standing inside of it.
That’s actually a really good idea.

That sounds delicious! Great Idea.

If I remember correctly they added it after launch. Before you could drop it for a risk-free stealth since you could leave it or get knocked out without losing stealth.
It was a good change though, since it made the thief think before dropping it and opened up for counter play.
