Eyh guys,

My in-game name is Lexx Shadowfury, I’m an active player and I really enjoy theorycrafting and testing things over to find what suits myself the best. I don’t like following cookie-cutters builds or doing what everyone else does. So that’s why I’ve tried to run something else than D/D or pistolwhip for a thief to see if I could get something decent going on, and guess what? I’ve found a pretty nice build with Pistol/Dagger. Oh and btw, I just xfered to Anvil Rock to be on a more populated server pvp-wise and I’m actively looking for a good team to play with. I also play hammer-warrior and I’m probably gonna make a guardian pretty soon.

I’ve been working and testing that build since a week now and after that recent patch, it’s even better now. Normally when I do a new build, I wanna keep it secret because I don’t want every1 to start using it. Since people always manage to get the hand of it by playing vs me or by finding it themselves, I’ll be sharing it with you guys to get all the credit for my work for once. Yeah, because perfectionning and working on a build require a lot of time and testing. Don’t judge too fast, try it and you’ll see..

Playstyle :

This build is good at point older, but you can still use it on the offensive. When you are holding a point, lay down your ambush trap directly on the circle so enemy walk on it when they come cap. Wait till your thief pop out, use dancing dagger, steal, CnD and now, this is where you’ll understand why you are good at point-holding, if the cooldown on your trap is reseted you can place a second trap directly under your opponent so it immediately triggers to get a second thief with you. So basically after doing all that, you have 2 thief with you, without the use of thieves guild, you slown and stole the enemy, and you are ready to share your venom giving urself and your thieves 4 stack of might and the enemy over 10 stack of vulnerability, a very long duration poison and a very long weakness. After sharing your venom while being stealth, you can unload it all on your enemy and you’ll notice a very big burst, even on high thoughness proff, thanks to the awesome condition damage from bleed and poison. As you fight, always try to use your dodge a lot as it’s gonna be recharging really fast, it’s gonna boost up your stack of might everytime and gives you speed boon. Also, don’t be scared to use your healing as soon as you missing 1/4 ur hp, it’s a VERY low cooldown and it regenerates your endurance. Keep attacking enemy from far away with your pistol auto, when they get close 3rd-skill away or dodge if your CnD is on cooldown, otherwhise keep stealthing with CnD to get some burst of bleeds. If you are going for a stomp remember that your stealth blinds the target, so try to time CnD to negate the effects that could stop you from doing it, like push or knockdown. Thieves guild is used when theres more than one enemy coming at you or when you really feel you will need that extra burst.

PROS:
-19k hp, 2,3k armor, 1,9k power and 1,1k cond damage with +25% duration.
- Survivability trough thieves control, leeching venom sharing with a lower cooldown, the infinite amount of dodge giving swiftness and finally the blind on stealth.
- Multiple way to gain might boon, that also share with your thieves.
- Lot of unavoidable burst damage through condition stacking of bleed and poison.
- Long duration weakness on enemy
- Long duration poison on enemy
- All damage skill are ranged so you don’t have to go in the middle of big aoe fights.
- 15s cooldown dodge healing that removes cripple, chilled, immobilized.
- Fast refilling endurance through traits and useage of healing utility.

CONS:
-No stun break (The high thoughness and vitality you have helps surviving through stuns unlike 14khpglasscanonthief)
-No quickness (Your super-awesome sneak-attack is fast enuff, and your damage is all bleeds so you don’t have to relly on spamming something really fast to burst)
-Limited in the utilities choices due to poison sharing. (No shadow refuge or shadow step)

Thats about it! I could explain more, but I’ll let you discover the power of P/D and poison sharing with ambush trap by urself. And I’ll say it again, I encourage you build your own way, stop listening to everyone though and test things over, try different things and try using things the majority don’t. That’s how you will discover what fits you the best and you’ll trully enjoy the game.

Don’t forget blinding powder will stealth your buddies and give them a sneak .

@fadeaway if you are talking about the blinding powder you get when reaching 25 % hp yeha that could count on the survivability list :P Normal thief build dont go into both Shadow art and acrobatic, they tend to focus on crit and damage tree.

No condition removal for burning/poison/bleeding, no stun breaker. You want to be point holder but you loose half of the “capture bar” by initiating your combo and then you have to stay in small circle to avoid loosing it completely. You will loose the rest of the point after 2 more sneak attacks with your pistol.
Sure, I can be wrong about the loosing part in stealth, but if any other point holder comes to your point he will atleast neutralize it with almost no effort.

@Ihales: You don’t stay stealth for a long time so it’s not a big deal, with all the blinds going on you wont really need any cond removal, also you dodge a lot so you don’t take many damage.
@IljumperMT: IT’S NOT normal build. and no. You don’t take trap reduced cd, because you want the extra might charge and trap cd is alrdy set to be at the same time with ur poison(getting-5sec on it rlly not worthing it). And NO, NO ORGE RUNES PLS, NO! Orge runes have crit damage you don’t want, a useless pet since you have alrdy 4 with you and you lose many condition damage and you lose the goodness to have an endurance refil each 15sec.

Also @Ihales: If you are facing cond heavy team you can replace your blind on stealth by a regen pop on 5 bleed stack, that helps managing it. Again It’s a good build on 1v1 or 1v2, If a full teamp rush you, you will need backup from 1 of your teamate, and you can do like every other point olders and just dodge and kyte all the way on the point until your team reinforce you. If you are facing a stun heavy melee team you could replace your spider venom by a stun breaker and your leeching venom trait by the Shadow’s embrace trait for more condition removal.

I use leeching too, in a completely different way, but I did have fun with using a monk rune since the aegis pops directly after the elite is finished, meaning, you put aegis on everyone around you as well as the venom. Your thieves end up making almost the entire fight when they are leeching life, with a guaranteed block. This wouldn’t fit into your build, but it was fun to play with. I’m on anvil rock as well.

Yeah, monk runes is a really good idea and yeah ur thieves fights a lot for you, they are so powerfull srsly people dont even realise. I really like dodge a lot so the adventurer runes fit best my play-style, really depends on whut u liek the most :P what’s your caracter name btw ?

I would drop the agony rune in your pistol – 35% longer bleed is no better than 25% for pistol bleeds (25% gets you the full extra second, anything over 25 and less than 50 does absolutely nothing).

If you’re a thief and haven’t
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.

I like it OP. It’s definitely one of the more synergistic builds I’ve seen in a while. The might stacking from Venoms and dodge rolls, along with endurance regeneration is all really nice.

Personally I would swap out Skale Venom with Devourer Venom as it would make it easier to pull off CnD on opponents and using Sneak Attack. Other reasons to swap out Skale venom is redundancy in some traits and abilities. For example, you automatically apply weakness on your opponents with poison which can be done by stealing or using Spider Venom. Vulnerability is easy to apply thanks to Body Shot and CnD which both add 5 stacks of vulnerability. By changing to Devourer Venom it would remove the redundancies and immobilize many opponents a few times over when shared.
I would also trade out Cloaked in Shadows (IV) for Infusion in Shadow (V) in Shadow Arts. Reason being, you don’t have any other stealth options beyond CnD and without the 3 additional initiative brought by 15 into Trickery it would be more cost effective and allow for more potential damage and initiative usage in the long run as the net cost of using CnD would be 4 initiative versus 6. These are just my thoughts, take them and leave them as you feel necessary. Overall, good job.

Gave it a whirl in Khylo earlier, enemy team fed me a steady stream of players trying to blow my treb up and each of them got boned in close quarters. I had an especially orgasmic moment dagger storming then dodge rolling 4 times in a row through a mesmer shatter and guardian burst while blasting cluster bombs all over the place. It’s a good build OP, I never would have thought of a condition build without traiting the trickery tree so this was pretty enlightening.

The tier 1 major trait in the shadow arts tree which applies regen to allies when you stealth includes yourself by the way. I’d take it
But then, I use shaman amulet (toughness, condition, healing) as the healing power causes leaching venoms to hit 500+.
