As we all know by now teleportation as a thief is really poorly done, one invisible edge off by 1 degree, one rock or tiny ledge, etc will completely impede your progress. The current method which doesnt actually teleport you was done for god knows why (maybe to prevent shadowstepping in JPs) but for whatever reason shadowtrap should work on a completely different system. It’s usuability and viability as a worthy enough utility to take a slot are severely crippled by the fact that despite it’s geniunely useful MO, it will not work 90% of the time- i’m not exaggerating; if you’re in any form of realistic terrain that is not a long stretch of flat land it will not simply not work and you’ll be pulled usually a few feet/inches in the direction you’re supposed to travel.
I play s/d thief and i can see this being a huge benefit to my play style, the times I manage to get it to work (which i have to set the scenario just perfect to do so) it’s an excellent tool that gives me the ability to play like a thief should.
Our survivability comes from our mobility and the ability pick and choose our battles, and our ability to retreat when necessary, and this is what this utility skill is obviously meant to aid in. All I ask that this skill be given the ability to actually WORK.
