Seriously? I can understand attempting to deal w/ D/D thieves, even if the nerf showed a complete lack of understanding of what the issue was, but this was just uncalled for. Meanwhile, in Warrior land…

Edit: Seems that this doesn’t apply to WvWvW. If so, that’s not too bad. Still, You’re killing our ranged options here…

You’re not supposed to use it that way, shortbow isn’t your max range weapon. Cluster Bomb was hitting a little too hard and especially in large zerg fights.

You’re not supposed to use it that way, shortbow isn’t your max range weapon. Cluster Bomb was hitting a little too hard and especially in large zerg fights.

Which the nerf doesn’t apply to, lol. You should read the patch notes.

I think anet was concerned about spamming CB in PvP in melee range. That did a lot of dmg. 15% isnt really much of a nerf but is it? A toning down, yeah, but not by much (compare dancing dagger…. 50% dkitten!?)

You’re not supposed to use it that way, shortbow isn’t your max range weapon. Cluster Bomb was hitting a little too hard and especially in large zerg fights.

If shortbow isn’t our max range weapon, are you saying the Scorpion Wire is? XD It’s the only other 1200 range damaging skill we got, unless you count steal with Mug + range extension.

Shortbow shoots further than gun technically. So it’s our furthest range weapon. Can’t seem to hit bosses at long range with gun where bow does land hits. The nerf was pretty unnecessary, bombs are extremely slow and require timing. The detonate at point blank range was strong but I don’t see it needing nerfed, my daggers still hit harder.

to be perfectly honest it seems like their thinking was that if thieves can have this amount of melee burst that they should not be able to do as much damage at range, or “range” (since it was already the shortest range, range weapon)

but while playing the only time I had really thought to myself “wow this could be op” was when going to the range spells. thief is a melee class and the amount of damage we can put out while in melee range is, without argument, very powerful. but in those situations when i did move to range (dancing dagger, cluster bomb) and those abilities ALSO did very good damage it occured to me to be a little bit OP.

IMO having this toned down is much more preferable to straight backstab nerfs, which happens to be more of a direct source of damage

My guess why CB was nerfed in PvP was because of people spamming 2 on capture points + condition damage. Don’t quote me on it though.

I’ll quote you.

Yes, CB got nerfed just for that reason. It was powerful, way too powerful. (More power, less condi damage though)

Just admit it, it was really strong for a 3 ini skill. I’m glad it got nerfed slightly.

This was a sensible damage reduction. it effects my play style but it only balances its effectiveness. If you think this was unnecessary then you missed a trick. with dancing daggers as the exception. it was a very well rounded patch that didn’t compromise the classes play style

I’d agree, except many different (on their own) reasonable nerfs all hitting the S/D weapon set at the same time make it much weaker relative to other weapon sets, even more so than before, whereas other weapon sets have a smaller number of nerfs hitting them.
