Shouldn’t the Lyssa Runes alone put you at roughly 38% crit-chance?

I that case I don’t see how this is different than your standard Hidden Killer + Valkyrie build people have been running since…..well forever.

Ok you chose Cavalier gear over Valkyrie in many cases but that doesn’t make a huge difference in play-style.

Your utility choice is slightly different, I’ll admit. Not sure if I personally would like running without Shadowstep but that’s besides the point. Personally I’ve never been too fond of Smoke Screen either, at least not in WvW. The cast-time and stationary nature make it highly situational.

Also, who or what is “Snuffles”? Or are you talking about your own character in the 3rd person?

Interesting Idea, and finally an incentive for me to get some soldiers armor for my thief.
About the Stunbreakers, you don’t need them against Warriors If you can dodge well enough. You mainly need them when fighting outnumbered.
But I don’t know how much I like having only 30% crit chance, I already don’t crit enough with 45%…

However, what’s the deal with linking other people’s specs?! First Amonatory’s and now this. None of these specs is something new but I am pretty sure that if they wanted to precisely give them to others – they would do so themselves. Thief community is shooting itself in the foot.

Even as a thief that’s ridiculous. Now we’re probably going to be nerfed because of the gear that anet themselves is giving us. Don’t hate us cus we’re beautiful! Nerf the gear..? Idk.

Lets assume for a sec you full ascended gear and you have 3175 attack (1030 Damage from Ascended Weapon) and 94% crit damage and 31% crit chance.

(1030*2145)*2.4/2350 armor (vs a 30 SA thief) = 2256 damage * 2.44 crit damage = 5505 Backstab or 2752 Facestab.

That is hardly “hit like a truck” unless you’re referring to toy model. What happens when you fight people with higher armor?

Vs 2800 armor
(1030*2145)*2.4/2800+ armor (build with some toughness) = 1893 damage * 2.44 crit damage = 4620 Backstab or 2310 Facestab.

Vs 3200
(1030*2145)*2.4/3200+ armor (high toughness build) = 1657 damage * 2.44 crit damage = 4043 Backstab or 2021 Facestab.

You need to land BS 3-4 times before you can kill anything.

I haven’t even factored in the low AA damage due to low power and crit chance or how build lacks movement speed. Goodluck trying to AA people with swiftness.

I ran something similar over a year ago and I personally do not like it because I like to play burst build. Just because people do not share their builds, it doesn’t mean we don’t know about or tried it.

I have ran that build. I am not a fan of it because almost everyone I see uses condi, and with the lack of survivability in the build is useless to me. Sure, it requires some skill, but playing d/p with it isn’t as hard as playing s/d with it.

Playing D/P with it is different than playing S/D with it. They’re better and worse at different things. One set is not objectively better or worse than the other, thus being more or less difficult than the other.

One example is that S/D thieves have a much easier time vs DPS/Meditation Guardians than D/P thieves, whereas D/P thieves have an easier time vs Hammer Warriors.

I also sincerely challenge you to do more outnumbered fights without SA. Perhaps you will see why I consider SA in general cheese.

Learn to shortbow.

You also don’t have to win vs every single opponent. No matter what build you run on any class, some matchups are just going to be bad matchups for your build. That’s the whole point of roaming. Fighting fights you can win, and avoiding fights you can’t. Not smashing your head against a brick wall and hoping you are successful.

Lyssa runes dont give any crit dmg…

No, but they give 165 Precision, which is roughly 8% Crit-chance.

I figured that would put you way above 31% you quoted. At least I seem to have about 35% Crit-chance even when wearing full Valkyrie gear and Runes of Strength.

I can’t imagine all that coming from the Ascended Trinkets.

whenever you enter stealth you gain might, the thief usually ends up with 8-10 stacks of might, sometimes 12 with hidden assassin, which is the GM minor trait

also, snuffles does not use this but she said you could use this trait called Furious retalation, which grants you fury when your target reaches 50% hp

with this. you bascially become a zerker again when they reach 50% hp but a zerker with 2k toughness

plus you would be surprised how much 31% can crit…

Anet won’t have to bother with nerfing this since they know that the upcoming changes to crit damage will do the job just fine in terms of reducing the effectiveness of this and all other builds that rely so heavily on crit damage.
