So, this just happened
Man, i don’t really care that you re killing little thieves, as most ppl playing thief nowadays are just bad cause they thinks it s OP and didn’t pay attention to learn how to play but how can you kill someone with a lvl 14 Oo
I remember when i was still a lvl 14 thief, i was dealing 200 dmg with aa on a full zerk war (with lvl 80 it’s like 2000 dmg) pls tell me your secret :o
but but…it does not matter, thieves are still OP even if you manage to kill them!
where is my fail/qq bandwagon when you need it most ?
guys?

I agree that most thieves running around are people that think thief is OP (guess I just gave them a lesson then? ;p) but the fact that I killed many thieves and struggled with other professions say a lot. I know the thief, I’ve played it since the first time I launched GW2, therefore it’s no problem for me to kill an average thief. But I’ve rarely played other professions, therefore I find them tougher to fight on my low lvl guardian.
Secret? Sustained low damage. The fight was long and the thiefs every attempt to stealth or run away was stopped by me. I didn’t exactly deal much damage with each swing, but I saved my small bursts and timed them right after his attempt to stealth was ruined and caught him off-guard with it. Since he couldn’t heal with stealth and had no initiative he was left with only auto attacks, which made the fight quite one-sided. Can’t wait to do this when my guard reaches lvl 80

Going to record tonight(first time thought so it can be interesting), hopefully I’ll find a thief (or let he find me since up leveled are called free kills in a thiefs head). So hopefully I’ll have something up by tomorrow ^^
This must mean Thief needs to be buffed
AMG lvl 14 guard killing OP lvl 80 thief? GUARDIAN IS OP AS kitten NERF IT!!!
:P
The only thing that even remotely gives me trouble on guardian are S/D ini regain heavy thieves, and even against those, if theyre not better than me skill wise, they cannot win. Everything else is easy, or a stalemate because they cant do enough damage to kill me and I cant do enough damage to kill them.

Breaking news. Rock beats Scissors. Story at 11.
Seriously though… record and show people how easy it is to beat a thief on a guard. I wish I could but my computer isn’t good enough

This is exactly why I’ve been telling people to move away from burst builds while the meta is shifting into conditions. Had that thief either been good or at least decent with a condition build your level 14 guardians wouldn’t have had a chance.
I beat a war and guard 2v1 (and later a guard and ranger 2v1), does that mean both of these classes suck and engineers are OP?
No it doesn’t.
Jorun is right about the condition builds (at least P/D anyways) since you are pretty much impossible to kill all that really happens is a stalemate.
As a sidenote, all D/P thieves suck.
all D/P thieves suck.
They OP, pls nerf !
all D/P thieves suck.
I once thought about running D/P just to title a stream “Hardcore DP Action in EB”, but that plan never came to fruition.
LOL@viking….this one time….i actually did that. wasnt quite “game footage” but it was def a fun game

As a sidenote, you have probably seen two d/p thiefs in your playtime, one of those being yourself.
Guardians are thieves worst opponents. Too many stunbreakers for BV and retaliation damages them more than the damage dealt to the guardian. Ofc there are some sad stealth dodge tank builds that take a lot of time to kill but hammer/GS combo wrecks them the second they are caught.

Not really I love guardians on my S/D thief. Yum.

You posted that right: Bandwagon Thieves. What are they? Any Thief that runs with a Dagger. Bad enough ArenaNet lost its creativity, but dang the players went right down with it.

You mean if use one of our 3 main hand weapons or rather 1 of our 2 melee options, you’re a bandwagon thief? It’s not as if there is a huge abundance of weapon and utility variety at our disposal.
I’ve worked out one relatively successful way to burst a guardian as a dagger dagger thief, but it depends on them being predictable and only running one stun break.
Break aegis with a projectile
Basilisk venom, cloak and dagger – steal – combo
At this point they will usually stun break to get out of basilisk and avoid backstab
If they have stability, wait in stealth for it to drop
Use mace crack stolen ability
Cloak and dagger – backstab
Auto attack
Usually by the time the stun effect from mace crack has ended they’re downed.
[TI] Team Ignition (Gandara)
Mace crack doesn’t stun, it dazes iirc
You killed a bad thief? I can auto attack to death a lvl 14 guardian. Id crit you for what? 3k per hit? Not to mention backstab which will most likely hit for 7-10k…
And stop with everyone saying class x is easy to kill with class y. All classes are hard to fight as any class if said players are good.

Did I say it was easy because I was a guardian? No I didn’t. I said I could pull it off because I have over 800 hours on my thief – I’ve pretty much only played thief since beta. This wasn’t any attempt to brag, it was an attempt to show that it is possible to completely destroy thieves if you anticipate their moves. This thief wasn’t particularly bad, I just stopped his attempts to stealth – and a thief with no stealth and no initiative is a sad thief.
If he had landed a backstab I would probably die from that alone. I was just using blocks, aegis, protection and retaliation at the right moment and therefore I killed him. This was more a post to tell everyone that cry about getting killed by thieves to shut up
Or a post about people boasting about killing level 80s on uplevels to shut up.

Nope, Guardians (95% of them) are very predictable, with almost exactly the same bunker build and gear. They are easy to fight against, and if not win – draw. The worst thief enemy are the (good)engineers because they are the most unpredictable class and have some pretty nasty CCs and aoes.
And sorry OP, but as someone with over 1+k hours on guard and 700+ on thief, I am flat out calling you a liar. At lvl 14 you just don’t have essential skills and traits to do that(not to mention damage for offense and defense for survivability). I am waiting on a video to prove me wrong though, I will eat my words and revere you as a guardian god if you show me a video.

Again. Bad thief.
Even if you did somehow manage to interrupt his blackpowder+Heartseeker combo, he easily could’ve shadow refugee then back stabbed you for 8k, which is probably most of your health. You simply fought a bad player who didn’t know what he was doing. I have never come even close to losing to an uplevel especially since I usually 3 shot them.
If he was bad enough not to dodge your CC then I’m calling him bad. Banish and binding blade are easily dodgeable. Line of warding can work to some degree, but the thief can still turn around and heartseeker through the smoke field.
Maybe youre good. But that doesn’t change the fact that this thief was terrible, and could’ve auto attacked you to death. Uplevels can never put up respectable damage so this fight must’ve taken a bit of time. Plenty of time for the thief to stealth using say shadow refuge.
Btw: the x class beats y class was directed at other posters, not you.

Ah, thought you ment me, sorry about that ^^
He wasn’t downright terrible, but he did make some mistakes. My guess is that he got over confident (I usually get pretty sure I will squish an up leveled player with ease) which had him fail. The fight went on for quite some time, so why he saved his shadow refugee until he wanted to flee is beyond me.
They are easily dodgeable, but not when you’re in mid air with a heartseeker. I have been knocked out of heartseeker several times. How I won is still something I wouldn’t believe unless I witnessed it, but I guess I used my shouts and blocks at the right moment ;S
I kill them all the time on my warrior. “They are only OP” if you’re stupid enough to stand in black powder, lol… Which the majority of the people in WvW tend to do, also really easy to just auto attack them to death while they are stealthing.
He must’ve been terrible, and I mean absolutely, positively terrible, for you to be able to kill him when you’re level 14. Even unstealthed, I can hit someone like you for around 6k damage. The last time I was killed by a Warrior or a Guardian was about a month ago while I had a taco in one hand and was doing my taxes while playing. Needless to say, I threw down my taco and managed to kill the guardian and got the warrior down to like 10% health, but then he pulled a hundred-blades skill on me, and I was down. I play WvW every other day, and never, ever get killed 1vs1 by a guardian or a warrior. No offense, but he really must’ve been terrible if he didn’t know when to dodge and then backstab you. Even if you had used your skills at the exact right moments, the Thief could have easily gotten to you within 4-kittens. The most a guardian has ever blocked/resisted/immuned my hits for was about 4 hits.
so you’re bragging about killing a bad player who had even less armor value than you and didnt realize he could of just auto attacked you to death.
tbh if you lost that fight you should be ashamed, he should be ashamed he lost to a under level, but bragging because you killed a bad player is just stupid.
i can get on my thief and kill some trolly staff mesmer build or a bunker ele build does that mean im a good thief? no it just means im better than that guy i killed.

Were you level 14 when you killed a full bunker ele or staff mesmer? No? Then it’s not the same.

And as I’ve said before, this is not a bragging thread. It’s merely a thread to say that stealth thieves is not even close to OP. As long as you know how to fight one, it’s way too easy. I even said that in the original post, if I could stop the thief from stealthing on my lvl 14 guard, then anyone should be able to do it on their lvl 80s…
Still no video to prove his statement tough, how convenient.
