While I completely agree with nerf to pvp, I think this skill should remain as-is in pve. Thieves are already very squishy in pve they don’t need to be nerfed there.
Edit: For those who didnt read J.Sharp’s patch preview, larcenous will steal only 1 boon instead of 2.

They are considering the change.
In PvE it practically doesn’t matter as there is a lack of boon application on enemies.
Which somewhat hindered the significance of the Original FS in PvE which pretty much had zero tracking issues on stationary enemies to begin with.
LS is really good in certain situations such as the dredge fractal.
So, FS comes back to prebuff state except for the split part? Back to 1 boon for 5 init? XD

Original FS had unblockable evade Cleave boon-strip on low damage with medium dmg follow up where the medium damage was well telegraphed
and post patch would be low damage evade with unblockable Single-target boon-steal medium damage follow up where the medium damage is slightly telegraphed.
The telegraph is probably the big thing. Splitting the skill made it easier to your damage on players. It didn’t matter for monsters since they’re mostly stationary. If they had just changed the tracking on Original FS and added Boonsteal there probably would have been zero nerfs given how telegraphed it was.
Anyway, the problem with FS/LS is probably the extra evade it provides. If they cut down on non evade functionality and reduce the initiative cost to go with it, it’ll just make the evade spam problem worse :/
Generally whenever you want to strip boons in PVE, stealing just 1 in insufficient. Dredge will laugh that off. The initiative cost needs to be halved if it is only having half the effect!

I agree with the evade uptime being a problem in pvp but in pve it’s a necessity with thieves having such low base hp. Even in low level fractals with 2600 armor 1 auto attack from a mob will hit for half your health DX
It’s very hard for ANet to shave anything in LS and not change completely the viability of the skill :p
