Staff Vs Bow for PvE?
Having D/D and staff might be melee overkill. I don’t have the exact PVE numbers, but staff single target DPS is probably on par and in some cases better than D/D assuming you are taking +10% dmg on staff trait. You would only be keeping staff to AOE via Vault?
By all means drop bow and keep staff and just spec for Dash dodge to keep high mobility.
And realize you might die more often because you don’t have a true ranged option
You’ll have far more gtfo situations on the HoT maps.
I never go only melee on those maps (or in wvw for that matter).
Even my revenant can’t handle it.
Ah okay I see what you mean, that’s fair enough.
Well for melee, I’d probably rather stick with D/D. I’ll mess around with the staff for a bit but probably won’t now use it as my go to melee weapon.
Having said that, is the Daredevil trait line still worth using even if not using a staff?
Having the +3 initiative from Trickery is cool. But for example in HoT Maps, Unhindered Combatant is really nice to have, and some of the utility skills are not too shaby either.
I suggest you try both and see what fits your gameplay more. They are very close in terms of damage. (But Trickery wins in really short fights thanks to Flanking Strikes.)
It’s always best 2 have a melee and ranged. Either if they are d/p and short bow, or staff and p/p. There are times where it’s just better, safer and smarter to just pew pew from range
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge
For PvE, I run Staff and P/P. Great for ranging bosses too hot to get near. Vault is 2/3 as good as the SB teleport but every other skill is substantially better. P/P is substantially better DPS than SB.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I usually take staff/SB because the SB utility is just phenomenal. If you’re going through HoT maps though, I’d keep a set of pistols in your inventory for single-target damage in chak infested areas…there’s nothing like bouncing an arrow into three chak that just happen to enable their damage reflect at the exact same time.
Depends. D/D with Lotus Training and Viper is amazing, Staff with bound and berserker is also amazing.
Plot Twist: Elder Dragons are massive robots created by the Black Lion Trading Company.
Think of the money they make off weapons and armor…
