Please Anet give us the Monkey King run, walk and idle animation for staff. I’m not asking for the really long bounding stride, simply the staff slung over the shoulder, which would transition well into the start of just about every attack on the staff. You made the attack animations into very fitting and fluid animations. These don’t go well with the hunched over hammer animation that looks like your character is struggling to hold the staff up. I know I’m not the only one who would love to see the animation changed. Thanks

Anet pleaaase. I suits the daredevil so much better rather than the hammer idle/run animation
i think this is a problem for both Revenant and Thief. They shouldn’t have the same stance perhaps but the Hammer idle/run is really not that fitting.
I’m really satisfied with the revamped animations so far. If we could see additional modifications to their idle, running, walking, and remaining weapon skills (weakening charge, debilitating arc, and perhaps even make vault and actual vault with your bo staff), that would make this weapon visually perfect!
I’m gonna repost a snippet of what was said in another thread, as I think it’s a really great idea.
Recycling the hammer animations for these movements is not the way to go when making a fighting style that’s supposed to be convey extreme agility and nimbleness. The hammer animations invoke a sense of weight towards the head of the weapon, as if they’re lugging around a massively heavy hammer, not a lightweight bo staff. If Anet doesn’t want to use the Monkey King’s animation for a battle stance, then something like the first picture here would be a good alternative. The walk and run animations could have the staff situated in a similar behind-the-back position, with the free arm moving like it normally would.
The second picture would just be a cool example of a confident (arrogant even), casual idle animation very suitable for thieves.

This post needs to be seen by the devs. We NEED the Monkey King animations, they’re already in the game kitten . And the current idle animations look dumb. Also some buffs but that’s another topic. If you’re gonna make Daredevil so weak, at the very least make them look awesome.
Honestly I would much rather have the idle and run animations as the chanter in Aion over the monkey king ones… But either way, yes I VERY much agree the idle stance and run animation need change. I love the fluid motion of the daredevil, but it gets ruined astheticly when I’m holding my tiny staff as though it were a ten ton hammer…. It Looks so bad as it currently is.
It would be really great if they could rework these animations because the current ones are just not fitting. The staff is not a hammer, which is really heavy at the end.

+1 for changing up the animations. Specifically the run and idle animations to something more graceful and less brutish. I actually like the walking animation with the staff over the shoulder.

Silly thieves. It is known that devs. don’t even check the thief forum. You will have better luck going to the mesmer forums and linking this post. Then they are guaranteed to see it. I do admit the animations could be changed.
I would also like the Daredevil staff abilities to be revised. Give us one that let’s us jump on our staff and avoid damage for a few seconds. Help counter-play guardian traps.
I agree please give melee staff a unique idle/run animation. Also please add a trail effect to Fractal Staff because we can use it in melee now.

Staff, and even the DD grandmaster dodges, could use some of the Monkey king’s animations. I think someone mentioned why they weren’t used was because the tonic skin was built on a funky skeleton, so they’d have to be completely remade.
I am worrying also alot about that, my gameplay in Spvp mostly involve running, walking and standing still. And it looks ugly.

I was reading a lot about how bad the animations were, but thought that surely the Asura ones would still look good; but they’ve even made the Asura ones look bad which is quite an achievement!
I’d have been happy with the regular Asura staff idle etc animations to be honest – especially that cheeky twirl they do – bless ’em.

I agree with giving melee staff the regular staff stance. Before they show any gameplay footage, I’ve been expecting my human to wield the staff the same way it carries the banners he picks up.
