I just would like to hear what others would think of this.

Add leap finisher to #3, add smoke field to #4 and remove blast finisher from #5.

Smoke field from #4 would only last one or two seconds and it would only be a field, and not have blinding effect like /p #5.

You could then use either #2 on it once to blind enemies with that whirl finisher, making it actually a useful ability.

Or you could use #3 on it once to gain a short duration of stealth, and again, making this skill worth using.

I would also remove blast from vault as it is already a strong ability and would be too strong with stealth combo.

And all of this would just add some depth to staff and make #2 and #3 useful when comboed.

I would remove the ground target from Vault, and make it shadowstep to your target when it reaches its apex, and reduce the damage by like 30-50%. That’s really the only change I would make, it’s dumb that Vault does as much damage as a backstab with an evade built in.

Its probably to make up for the fact that Staff has zero stealth access alone and even if it did, Hook Strike is actually terrible. Takes almost as long as the first two parts of the autoattack chain yet does less than even 1 of them.

Hook strike is not “terrible” . It can generate an interrupt which when coupled with PI is very potent. One thing Hook strike SHOULD do however is cleave.

In WvW I have had more than a few steals generate an interrupt followed by a hook strike generating an interrupt for two procs of PI occurring as I used the rest of the attack chain. Not only did this stop a heal and another action , it triggered 8k extra damage from the PI’s. Head shot does not do a lot of upfront damage but is still a potent tool for those that use it.

As long as Vault has a hitch, the weapon set is mostly second tier.
