Staff thief removal vs build diversity
That build seemed more of a spam fest tbh, the #3 needed to be fixed tbh as that was more of a bug exploit…Also I havnt noticed any real issue with the new vualt apart from now you can keep moving while using vault where as before you was locked in postion for 1/4 second before vault “jumped”
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge

Wait, for real? UGH, I had thought it was doing that before and it drove me nuts and made me avoid using Vault half the time!
Thanks for the heads up. I really need to test this out and see, could make Staff way more enjoyable.
Indeed, but I have to admit, while i enjoyed playing Staff and Acro, thanks to the simple Vault code fix that made Vault more ‘clever’, Staff itself now feels much more effective
sometimes diversity isn’t good for the game, like in this case acro staff was/is unhealthy for the game, a build which relies heavily in dodges and has almost an unlimited amount of them while doing damage ON a point is just too much.
Remember old s/d days? remember why it got deleted from the game? because it did eveything, 1v1 +1 teamfight and high mobility, ye the same could happen with staff acro I’m 100% sure they would have nerfed a lot more if dash didn’t exist.
Dash is the only skill that is preventing for all thieves going staff.
You can still play Staff as it was meant to be with DA but yea few people play staff DA because it’s a lot harder than acro and has way less 1v1 potential so ya.
Anyway I’d have nerfed #3 staff before acro it would have been more balanced than nerfing acro imo.
Finally the problem with thief is exactly that, “diversity” this is not an excuse or anything but when you give diversity to thief you will face a lot of problems, good players will always master those builds and people will start QQing(dd condi, acro staff stealth on wvw etc) this happens because thief is such an unique class that relies on spamming skills because they don’t have cds, and when you give them resources to keep spamming then you get cancer builds like the ones I said.
P.S: am I the only that finds a lot more interesting to play staff DA than staff acro?

It needed less sustain, basically. I think they’ve done a good job of nerfing acro without destroying it this time around, if you take staff master you get a similar level of evades to before but you have to be more careful against condis. The old build had too much sustain on a point and didn’t have to hit and run, which is contrary to the rest of thief design, so something was bound to get changed.
It forces you to make a choice between the auto evade trait and pain response, and staff master and EA, based on the comp you’re facing. Which isn’t a bad thing all told.
Don’t follow me, unless you enjoy being chased by angry men with sticks.
Power Build Condi Build
The changes didn’t remove staff thief. They just made it slightly more optimal to play DA with staff master now.
You can still play Staff as it was meant to be with DA
Excuse me, but why do you think that Staff was ment to be played with DA?

Sorry that was more like a personal opinion than a fact, I personally like to play staff with DA I think they support each other really well, acro for me is too many dodges.

I see, I was just seeking new opinions and reasons. For example I sometimes play it with CS rather than DA, it goes well with the Daredevil rune + Vault, or simply enhances 3rd Staff Auto-attack, quite a lot.

if u take another look at it this build with DA requires less to no spamming 1 skill to play efficently bc when u do a vault u need to make 100% sure it hits. so u rely on observing and bursting as well. i just wanted to point out that this is going in a good direction.
