Q:
Stats for shortbow?
Celestial gear afaik is only really a viable choice for Elementalists and Guardians, i.e. classes that scale well with all of the stats.
Thieves do not benefit much from “all stats”.
Instead you’re going to have to chose either a Power or Condition focus with the Shortbow. You can’t cater to both play-styles.
If you prefer Power-build I’d probably go for Berserker stats since the Shortbow has sufficient defensive capabilities and scales well with the stats.
if you want to focus on Condition stats, “Dire” might be the right choice, depending on your build.
Thieves do not benefit much from “all stats”.
With the (debateable) exception of the shortbow, hence my question. I’m currently using an exotic berserker bow, so that would be the other option. I’m simply unsure if the benefit I would gain by choosing celestial is worth the damage loss, especially because I have no idea how well conditions and healing scale. Also, it’s not like I’m using celestial armor, so it’s not much condi-dmg & healing power anyway =/
The "best" stats would really depend on going well with your other weapon set, unless you don’t ever plan on switching, or you’re rocking double shorties. Poison is more about taking a chunk out of heals than it is inflicting straight up damage, but that damage is a nice bonus.
I’m P/D (main) & Shortbow, so I use Carrion. I’m mostly into bleeds (pew pew pew) but the power from that keeps the bow viable (twip boing boing) and Cluster Bomb is always the happy for blast finishers or popping it for more bleeds.
If you’re not P/D, Dee Jay might be on the right path with the thinking.

Carrion if your main set is condi, Zerker or Soldier of it’s Power/Crit.
all is vain
Id go with Knights personally. Shortbow is only good for running away, and Knights has the best defensive stat combination for something you throw on and run away with (Main stat Toughness.) If you want to know why this is better than Soldiers, which has Vit and Toughness, its because the added Vit wont increase your HP if you swap it on during combat, so just go with the bow that has Toughness main stat since its only good for running away, and adding defense when running away is good.
