Is anyone else’s steal at max range failing and going on short CD as if it was out of range since the last update?

If it’s out of range it’ll go on CD (4 secs) If you’re within range of a target and you don’t target it, it’ll count as a miss and go on the steal CD.

While I appreciate the clarity, this miss/CD occurs when you’ve got a target and supposedly in range (max, no red bar on steal). This scenario can be recreated 100% on a stationary foe.

I’ve been having trouble with the range indicator saying i’m within range, and then having steal go on the 4 second cooldown.

I’ve noticed this as well, but I thought it was just because I wasn’t used to not using Long Reach as often as I used to.

When in a fight this hasn’t been an issue, but when you’re chasing down a target and waiting to react when steal is in range only for it to go on CD, is quite frustrating.

+1 Same issue here as well… It frustrated me so bad last night I said the heck with it and played my ranger… O_O

I’ve noticed this, but since it was mostly in WvW in the middle of big fights I just thought it was a mistake on my part.

I just tested it for myself, max range on steal, no red bar, just went on cooldown.

Edit: I don’t use long reach either, so that’s with the default range.

I have also experienced this. Also, didn’t steal work as a gap closer even if you weren’t in range? I know within a certain distance, using steal when out of range made you teleport closer but not TO the target. This doesn’t seem to work anymore.

I tested this on a rabbit, so unlikely :P

I was going to say this probably can be attributed to lag, but then I tested it myself in the mists and you guys are right.

If at the very max range, steal will not activate and go on the 5 second CD.

In general though, the range indicator in this game acts in very weird ways. For example, if you steal to a test dummy, then infiltrator’s arrow away at very max range (900), sometimes you will end up out of range of steal (also 900 range)
