Once you steal you should gain all ‘3’ of your enemies utility slots, they would be one-time use. (Once you use them they go grey, have no cool-down but one time use only).

F2=Utility Slot 1.
F3=Utility Slot 2.
F4=Utility Slot 3.

For example, if I stole from a trap ranger and they had three traps on there utility bar, I would gain all three of those traps ‘1’ time until I stole from them again.

Allows you to use the utility slots once again after 10 seconds. (gives them a second use and a 10 second cool-down.)

When you use steal again, it steals a new set of utility slots to use.

Thieves with endure pain, wells, invuln heals, etc… It would be kitten #8230;

Only way to make it not OP is by putting steal on 5m or more timer…

I don’t want a 5 minute timer ability…

I’m going to have to say this would break the game, IMO.

EDIT: What happens when thieves steal from kit engineer who have grenades and flamethrowers? Prybar? IMO, way too OP…

How is it overpowered?

Well, for starters, being able to reuse a utility that’s normally on a 45s+ recharge in 10s with Improvisation is ridiculous.
Then, what are you likely to steal in PvP? You’ll almost certainly have a stun break and a condition cleanse from that steal, which you don’t have to worry about recharge times and most of the opportunity cost of using them since the skill will disappear after 1 use. Then, with Improvisation, you’d have such bullkitten as a 10s recharge Elixir S/Mist Form/Endure Pain in addition to not worrying about wasting the recharge.

Daecollo what’s with this. You sound like you simply aren’t good with thieves. In the past week you’ve made two threads, both of which call for an overhaul to the thief’s profession mechanic by essentially doubling the utility slots available to them. What, you think your profession is so underpowered it deserves literally twice as many utility slots as every other class?

Yes. I have played all the other professions and thief f1 utility is the least useful. Lol I almost entirely ignore thieves on my necro and the backstab burst couldn’t kill me. This would be great for sPvP, but how would it work in PvE.
Personally I’d prefer to see deception esque skills as class f-skills.

Thief is the only profession without a real distinctive advantage. Additionally they’re a inferior hybrid at best. People are simply peeved because skilled players and stat crunchers killed them in some small scale battles. Not even the whole team, thief killed one just one person.

The class should have a distinctive, effective mechanic instead of a series of gimmicks that drives you wvw brats up the wall.

What? This has nothing to do with giving a thief I’m fighting 3 of my utility slots every 30-45 seconds when half of my utilities are on timers more than 45 seconds. And no, he can use them TWICE if he gets improvisation. You want to make a thief a better ranger than a ranger? Absurd…

Your posts across the class forums certainly stir up interest Daecollo but the wild ideas can’t really be taken seriously.

Last week I did some structured PvP for the first time, stole skulls from a necro, and feared him and his minions. That’s good enough for me and quite fun too.

Oh I see why everyone was saying that about improv now.
Honestly scrap that part of the idea and make it steal the 3 utilities and as soon as 1 is used, steal goes on recharge and you lose all the stolen skills. Gg you have a pretty cool mechanic that requires good knowledge of your enemy.

If you think of it the way I mentioned ( which I really like btw )
You would have 16 seconds of stability OR 8 seconds of taking no damage OR might/fury on a 45 second cool down.

Pretty cool imo to have a choice and allow it to be slotted like it is now so you can use it whenever.

Something that should change is the recharge, imo trickery can reduce it, but steal should only go on recharge after the skill gets used ( and have a minimum of 20-30 second cool down no matter what. Although, stealing and waiting 45+ seconds so you can use 2 stolen utilities in a row does mean you waited 45 seconds without your class mehanic.

An interesting idea, but way too powerful. How about stealing 1 utility or maybe 1 weapon skill from the 2-5 area (similar to how stealing from a warrior already sort of does). Now that mug can’t crit so it’ll do 2k damage, it would be nice if they could reduce the cooldown on steal so the other traited abilities become better. 30 seconds seems like a nice round number that would make taking the stun on steal trait worth it since it would be on a 21 second cooldown.

This is badly unbalanced. Fun. But unbalanced.

It’s the kind of thing I want to show up in a patch just long enough for me to enjoy stealing a bomb kit from an engineer, so I can be a stealth bomber for a few days before it’s reverted, or use guardian bubbles on top of a shadow refuge.
