Stealing attacks once? Why?
Turn off auto attack (ctr right click).
Okay, that does fix the problem .. but then I have to continually hit my #1 attack which is a pain. Plus, steal does not turn on auto-attack, so this still seems like a bug.

We’ll still see a problem with arrows that were already fired before stealthing revealing you, as well as things like radiation field on asurans.
With melee weapons, I like to steal from outside melee distance. If I’m too close, I dodge roll away, and steal.
With ranged weapons, like arrows, I turn my character away from my target (auto attack stops faster that way), wait a second, and then steal while I’m still turned away.
Both of these methods will ensure stealth works.

it doesen’t happen to me and i use 0 points in DA, so maybe other skill from there

You should have the autoattack off in PvP anyway, unless you want to give Mesmers some free confusion damage.

why so , as a non glass cannon build , few auto atacks are needed, i even use sigil of fire, and blast aoe flames every 5 seconds with auto atack,
“Stow / Draw Weapons” cancels your current action, if you time it right you should be able to prevent the single attack after Steal.
