Stealth Disruptor Trap - Survivability Tips?

As a Thief who only plays WvW on occasion, I have only come across enemies that use the trap twice. The only advice I have for those situations is to carry Shadowstep and a Shortbow. 30 seconds without stealth on a stealth-based build is game-breaking and you WILL die. Try to get out of there as soon as you notice that the Revealed indicator isn’t blinking.

Thanks for the info. So once you are hit by the trap you have a 30 second reveal debuff that will not go away? I didn’t know that. That should help a lot!
Yeup! Also, if you notice someone placing the trap (you probably won’t because they’re most likely invisible [in which case they are a Thief and you should post a thread stating the persons in-game name so we can all call him/her a traitor to the class]) you should immediately start running away. The cast time is 4 seconds and the person is rooted in place. Another thing to note is that any NPC Thief you call in using Ambush Trap or Thieves Guild will trigger the trap, and since you would be within range you would also get the debuff. I have not tested this last statement, the knowledge comes from a friend who says he has also tried it on a mesmer with clones.

Thank you again! What does a player appear to be doing during the 4 second cast time? Does it look like they are throwing a box down or anything like that?
Yeah looks liek they booby trapping the ground lol , they have the entire siege animation…and NO it wont work with Elixir S Q.Q
i’ve been hit my this trap pretty hard -.- used on me 10 times already, i don’t run shortbow so i have to get creative. Shadow step, Withdraw (just do a 180 real quick) then aim at something an Heartseeker away xD then dodge for those 2 seconds of swiftness… the way i’ve found to counter it, if you don’t use shortbow
Congratulations, you were credit to server. They wasted 10 supply and 15 badges and all they got was a kill on you.
And if you were aware of what it is that happend you could’ve gotten away. And all they got for 10 supply and 15 badges was knowing they annoyed a Thief.
So dont worry to mcuh about these Traps, just know what it is that happens if one triggered. But if you are single-handedly triggering such traps, just know you arent worth the cost of placing them. So its a win.
This trap is game breaking for thieves. I used it against a 2v1 thieves. Destroyed them both because as soon a you get them to 50% they try to stealth and can’t and frantically run around and then die. It’s liken to cutting the head off a chicken.
I’ve used it in 1v1 as well. I popped refuge and let the d/p thief hit me while dropping it. Then I backstab and spam 2 and he dies.
I don’t wvw a lot and I haven’t been hit by one myself. I’m on jq.
Who cares it cost 15 badges and 500 karma? I have over 1 mil karma and over 1k badges, even after buying a bunch of wvw infusions.
Firstly, in my experience these traps are very rarely used. But if they are there is a large animation of a swirling black vortex when the trap is triggered, if you see this, run. Thieves have some of the best abilities to reset a fight, some of them not requiring stealth. Personally I just shortbow away, and used terrain to deny them line of sight.
