Hi, what do you think about it ?
A couple of days ago I faced a d/p d/d thief that was doing the boring combo all the time, so I put down a trap, he triggered it and got revealed… few seconds after I stomped him in his useless shadow refuge…
He invited me in group and started to insult me because I cheated …
I laughed hard and now I’m asking you your opinion.

If it was a duel with /bow and everything at the beginning, then yeah. If he was just following and annoying you, then no.

Not really, as a thief, there is nothing you can call unfair. Use of terrain, mobs
traps, if you can use it, then use it. This “duell” talk isn’t even legit since thieves
aren’t a straight forward class.

@ daendur: Totally fine then. He could have simply run away since there was no commitment to a 1v1. Also, (assuming you didn’t place the trap in stealth) he had 4 seconds to interrupt you with offhand pistol.
@cyhann: if that’s your view on the thief and dueling I probably can’t convince you otherwise. Its like arguing over whether a thief is supposed to rely on evades or stealth for its survivability: entirely subjective.

as long as you didnt like /laugh or /dance or /cheer or /point etc then you didnt do anything wrong. yes stealth disruptor is a cheat code…… but as a thief when people use it on me….i feel empowered its like…you BETTER USE THAT kitten ON ME Lol….u wont win without it …my skills are better than yours.

The decision to implement a hard counter to a major class mechanic in itself was enough to rid me of any remaining faith I had left in ANet’s ability to make sane balance decisions for WvW…

i didnt mean it was horrible. but in my condi build it has mass evades mass blinds …2800 gap closer in an instant…..mas condi removal…best healing ….high hp…

Trav, you need to just stop posting. Acting like you know everything about he class is really getting on a lot of people’s nerves and ruins your credibility. There are many builds which have no stealth at all in top tier tPvP arenas for point capping and holding. The fact that you’ve become stealth reliant shows how little you really know. I also thought it was funny when you claimed that carrion was the only viable condition build option.

dont get me wrong. i would prefer a game without stealth at this point. it lowers my DPS….it is the tradeoff for our crap boons crap defense crap skills (no blocks invul etc) …. but in wvw stealth is kind of really needed at some lvl or anything larger than 2 peopl are goign to kitten you. call my bs if u like but find a video that proves otherwise or you are just wrong. i can show you dozens of videos of people rocking other 1 v 2s 1 v 3s 1 v 4s 1 v 5s and so on and so forth but all of them use stealth. obv in spvp/tpvp/pve its a diff story but in wvw stealth is a needed skill for thieves. maybe u dont wvw but all thieves ive met use stealth. this is common sense dont try argue it :P save face

So…again… show me a video ……even if u DO manage to find one ill find 20 for every 1 you show me. so ….we will see how little i know. zacchary seems like a good player. i talk to/with him alot on here. we generally agree on everything so if ur sticking up for him thats cute but i wasnt coming hard and i think he knows that. zach is cool in my book as he knows

i hear you but CC is the name of the game in wvw. spike doesnt matter. if you get a PVT zerg vs a zerk zerg the PVT will always win bc dmg stacks with other dmg and so do most conditions/Aoes etc. in wvw im DYING to make a build i can use to fight with that i can use 1 v 1 and 1 v 2 but also in a larger crowd. d/d evade condi removal build of mine (non mainstream) was amazing…however i found out the evades were a downfall. 1/4 and 1/2 second evades on 1 second and 1.25 second skills/attacks/utilities ended up leaving me at a disadvantage. i was vulnerable for the same amount of time the evade works…but right after when the skill is finishing . during this time i cant evade again…block or move…i ahve to wait for the skill to finish. you might not think that .5 or .75 seconds is long but when 20 v 20 or 50 v 50 is chain casting dmg / aoes you will get 3-4 hits easily in that small period of time. where as stealth can allow you to stay on ground and time your dodge rolls (which seem to have the longest evade per activation time in the entire game).

Which is why I stay in small havoc groups. Whenever my group gets in a skirmish, I save my dodges for big hits and use Death Blossom as a parry for smaller hits. It really is all timing for my build. The synergy in it just makes combat go a little faster.

I’m confused how he let you cast a trap for 4 seconds and still lost? Should be able to take away most of your health in that time since you aren’t doing anything to stop it.

You’d be surprised at the situations you’re able to lay these traps mid-fight.

I wasn’t under the impression the OP was a thief. If he is well then shadow refuge would be an easy placement.

I did it with 2 thieves on me while playing my warrior. Most classes have some sort of damage mitigation mechanic.

I am, and indeed I casted SR to place the trap but placing it triggered revealed on me.
So I actually set it unstealthed.

Seems fair enough, that d/p crakitten o ridiculous. Sorta like the spelling filter here.
