Sorry for my bad english. I mainly play engineer for most of the time. Now I trying thief just for fun and.. This class is so OP then its not even fun. I agree with dmg its stealth class, its work alike in other games but stealth possibility is simply ridiculous.

Few ideas for balance:
- allow apply fully functional stealth only out of combat
- if stealth will be used in combat it disable weapon skills while invisible – stealth in fight must be only escape mechanic!
- before hit from stealth must thief appear 0.5-1s (or add some “incoming” sound) before hit to get player chance to counter this attack. Now is Backstab uncounterable win win button.
- Show hit dmg if thief get aoe dmg in stealth for better identification of his position.
- All attack actions in stealth MUST remove invisible.
- Disable stealth while thief finishing players – for most of classes its uncounterable.

To do that you much change our whole class, since all of our weapeons got attack of out invisiblity, packing some extra element. And one of our trait trees are only like for stealth(33% faster movespeed, gain regen in stealth etc. making them both useless since out of combat i allready regenerate hp) The only thing i could agree is if you failed to hit from stealth you become visible. etc. you failed to land a backstab you dont have second chance.

Thief stealth is tactical. There is only one ability that applies more than 4 seconds of stealth (If traited) and that particular skill shows a nice big ring with an icon over it to let everyone know you’re there. Stealth on paper is fine in this regard, however the bug where the effect persists 1-2 seconds after the thief exits to attack NEEDS to be worked on.
Stealth does not make a thief invincible. Every ability in this game can be fired without targeting and if you hit the thief, you hit the thief. Applying stealth adds an extra dimension to combat; how can the thief move to trick you, and can you figure out where he is? It’s a mind game and one of the most “skillful” aspects of PvP.
All your other suggestions are just outlandish and all I can say is I’m glad that ANet will most certainly not put any of them into effect.

I think it’s funny people place so much EMPHASIS on backstab. I’ve had thieves use backstab on ME (and I’m the glassiest of cannons ^.^). You just have to react faster. Learn to hotkey the dodge. Get hit, DODGE, HEAL.

Stealth only lasts 4 seconds for me. I use it to mainly change my POSITION in a battle. And seriously I think engineers need to be buffed up, I’ve downed every single engi I saw in wvw. Maybe they’re just bad, but I srsly think they should give the engineers extra damage or speed boost or SOMETHING.

Another pointless whiner.You know i also agree that it isn’t fun anymore.Rozbuzka,do you realize that all present state of the game is because ANet made it that way.
There will be off course things out of line,and they will be fixed,toned down,buffed and so on.But this ranting is too much.Start playing the game already and stop whining.

The most annoying thing about thief is how he can make themselves invisible in process to finish enemy in downed mode. Thats need to be repaired .)
So I agree with Rozbuska, he had some good points about remaking thief.

same way mesmers illusions and necros minions must remain unattacking.They must be only escape mechanic.

How about wear red 6-star on the sleeve or prison number?

1. No, stealth is used as a tool for combat. It has no purpose outside of it.
2. No, stealth is both an escape and an offensive ability, we have seperate stealth skills to attack rendering your point moot.
3. No, you should train yourself in PvP instead to anticipate a Thief’s opening attack.
4. Backstab is a win or lose button, you can stay in stealth and regenerate or run away/closer or try to get a Backstab off. Both can be considered offensive and defensive by definition.
5. No, if Thief is invisible there is no reason to pop numbers on the screen to tell you if you hit. If you desperatly want to know if you hit a stealthed Thief then open combat log instead of chat log.
6. No, while stealthed you can still be CC’d, meaning while we are stomping we can be interrupted, in return of stealth stomping we have no access to Stability other than Dagger Storm which when used disables the ability to stomp someone.

There is nothing to see in this thread, hopefully i’ve put the nail in the coffin and let’s bury this thread amongst the other QQ I don’t want to learn the game and I lost my first sPvP match to a Thief.

As far as giving feedback when you hit a stealthed thief, sword strikes + signet of malice has been invaluable for me in stealth thief hunting on many occasions. Wide-range no-init attacks that will cripple the already slow-moving thief and give me healing when I hit them are a great way to track a moving stealthed target. It might be worth looking into if your profession has any similar “on-hit” skills or traits that would allow you to quickly ascertain when you’ve landed an attack.
