That may be true, but if we found a way to make all the non-Thief players stop QQ’ing about Stealth, we might catch a break from Anet and get Stealth-capping back.
There could also be a mechanic that allowed players to see “more” of the “ripples” when the Thief is at a control point…

All players should have the option to see stealthed enemies the same way you can see the outline of stealthed allies. If you toggle on the “see stealth” option, a large diaper icon appears next to your name. Eventually, after seeing stealthed enemies do the same things over and over again, you can realize what the rest of us have known all along and toggle off the “see stealth” option, which will remove the diaper icon. Everybody’s happy. Seriously.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
………..down them. “Stealth OP” and “Thief = no skill” come to mind as……..
When someone says this, it means that they have never played thief. Also if they attempted to play thief, they would die constantly in both PvP and PvE.
I am pretty sure I can say for all the thieves that using thief effectively requires creative exploitation and a good amount of knowledge on the profession to be any good at it. One simply cannot 5122222 nowadays and expect to win 100% of the time. You can change stealth to make you translucent instead of transparent, but that wont stop the facerollers from complaining that stealth is OP.
I am going to say this again:
Thieves are meant for those who can handle the challenge. That goes for those using them and those fighting them.

I would like to see that happen.
a better idea is to leave footprints OR be semi-transparent
a better idea is to leave footprints OR be semi-transparent
I personally like ideas like this, mainly because it means much more buffs in other areas.
If you made stealth translucent or detectable in some way, it would make “stealth” capping reasonable, as skill would be a reasonable counter. It would also decrease a lot of the counter-arguments, and thieves could receive buffs to become more than invisible killers.
I personally would love either footsteps, or shimmers on movement. It puts more skill into the stealth mechanic – stay still and nobody can see you, book it and you can get distance, but they might see you.
With current stealth mechanics (3-4 seconds and getting damage , cc ) you stay mobile, or you die. So " It puts more skill into the stealth mechanic – stay still and nobody can see you" – no.
IMO just delete thief as a class. Will make all the qqers happy. Then will come mesmers turn couse omg its 5 of them and i have no idea which one is real ! Seriously… Then delete everything till you leave only warriors. On the other hand… 100b combined with immobilise is op too right? right ?!

i have an ide each time you have stealth on you you cant get more duration on it and when it ends you get revlealed debuff and then after that you can do it agien
after that take some of the damage of some of the abiltys and they are fine
oh forgot the sword teleport needs to get an initiativ raise

ahahaha funny thread.
I wanna say random nonsence stuff to!! let me try…
Ok, so… if the thief is suppose to be visible/detectable is stealth, then stealth could be permanent! no one would mind am i right? also there is no need to a reveled debuff, you can see the thief anyway right?
Cool! i like this thread!
I have absolutely no stealth in the build I am running at the moment and get the exact same comments.
It’s a habit to complain about stealth, not actually a reason for complaint.

In WvW/PvP, maybe not if you know what you are doing or almost none at all vs. bad players. Alot of skill and a little luck is needed vs. a good players (which seem to be uncommon). Everywhere else, yeah you need some sort of skill to survive. You can’t just solo vet/champs as a thief because thieves are squishy, champs and vets do quite an amount of damage and if you stealth you could potentially reset them. If you have a tankier version, you might be able to survive more but your damage capabilities suffer making it that much harder to kill the vet/champ.
It still is a pain in the kitten to develop a decent build for anything without having to resort to traditional or more popular builds.
Compensation can be a kitten lol.

Good point and admirable goal, but, as others have stated, a stealth person that stands still is dead. I always laugh at the traits that stealth other classes but require them to stay still to not break it.
I think Thieves would be better served by being able to rely less on Stealth. I believe they already have at least a few builds that don’t rely on stealth, but a majority of Thieves still hang on to stealth for dear life which weakens the class as a whole in sPvP.
@Korsbaek:
At low levels, Thief takes very little, if any, skill to play and beat other noobs.
At higher levels, Thief takes quite a bit of skill to play. I’ve yet to achieve the same level of uber status as the 0/30/0/30/10 Thief I’ve yet to beat with my condition ranger who is quite an accomplished duelist. I’ve only been trying her build for a couple days, but still not where she is at with it. This differs from the very one-dimensional C&D+Steal+Backstab+Heartseeker_Spam build that is very common but really only successful against baddies or a good player who is weakened from fighting another good player.

I disagree … Mesmers do and do very well with our little bit of stealth. Check out our forums. Definitely check out SevenMirror.
