Stealth while stomping

Actually…no, you can still attack them. You just can’t see them. And even then, stealth won’t do a thing against a guardian or ranger’s AoE interrupts.
the rendering bug needs nerfed. if a GOOD thief can chain his stealth skills right he deserves to be in and out of stealth through a fight. the rendering bug that allows a theif to appear stealthed even when not for serveral seconds is all thats wrong with this. having to use aoe’s to hit a target that the client should be showing but is not is whats the problem.
My theory is if you are down, might as well open the map to select your waypoint. Interrupting is the only thing that can be done [except for War Vengeance]. What’s the use of interrupting if it only delays the process.

Standing still, visible, in the middle of a battle doing nothing else just facetanking damage should be removed from Thief… other classes don’t get anything this nice. It’s guarantteed to get you the stomp no matter what.

You mean other than all the other classes that also have abilities that give quickness, like a Mesmer’s Timewarp, a Warrior using Frenzy, an Engineer using Elixir U or a Ranger using Quickening Zephyr?

Stealth Stomping and Stability Stomping both have counters, find them, use them, profit. Don’t dumb down the game and take away mechanics just you dont like them.

True….and for technicality sake…the bug needs to be fixed, not nerfed. (your implying it was put in intentionally.)

@ rehk im not implying the rendering bug is intentional. i believe that thieves are taking advantage of it to the extreme and of the current influx of thieves only a handful are truly as good at cycling through the stealth chain perfectly to remain all but invisible. (before this last patch this was possible but you had a second before each new stealth hit to jump away causing the chain to fail)
Im not asking in any way shape or form for thieves to be nerfed. i honestly believe your damage is fine. Your ability to stealth is intrinsic to the classes flavor. But please remove the stealth rendering issue. The thief dynamic of chaining stealth was a lot more fun and interesting when if im on my toes i could whip out short bow, bounce out of range, tag you with cripple, and hope i hit dodge just in time before heart seaker and restealth hit. vs i have no idea where you are and have to pray on aoes to keep you from back stabbing but have little chance of true dps for the first part of the fight. which is the most important part.

Other classes do have ways to get quickness but they don’t have access to the skill haste. I didn’t say stomping people with quickness, I said stomping people with haste.
Haste = Quickness
So other class can use their quickness to stomp people also… why single out the Thief’s Haste skill…. sheesh

Quickening Zephyr gives quickness
Frenzy gives quickness
ect…
Quickening Zephyr =/= Frenzy =/= Haste
They are different skills. If I shoot someone with Headshot and then someone says the ranger skill Concussion Shot is the same skill because they both have a daze component, that doesn’t make it true.
Stomping is sped up through quickness….
Stomping is not sped up through the haste skill itself…ie there is no part of Haste that says it speeds stomping
Therefore Haste does not directly affect stomping

Source: The tons of bad thieves I’ve killed by auto-attacking thin air. Stealth isn’t invulnerability, and if you make yourself easy to read it isn’t even going to slow your death.

No it doesn’t.
You can still be hit, knocked-back, interrupted and killed while in Stealth.
If we took your BS stealth stomp away and gave you stability you would whine like the little girls 99% of thief’s are.
YOU CANT TARGET A STEALTHED THIEF you kitten morons that is the problem and it needs to be fixed. Since most of you are exploiting the stealth bug anyway it really dosen’t matter.
Because Thieves have garbage health, and without stealth-stomps they would never kill anyone because no matter how fast they spike someone down they’d get torn to ribbons the moment they were forced to stay perfectly still and open for the stomp.
Hell, before I figured out the stealth-stomp on my thief it was common for the person I just DOWNED to kill me, then finish me while we were both downed because thieves have no damage in their downed state either.

Just thought I should bring this back up because I don’t think you were ridiculed enough for this comment.
Stealth doesn’t stop you from taking damage.
Any ability in the game can be used without a target.
Just stand next to where you saw him stealth for the stomp and hit 1111111, or throw an AoE interrupt like fear if you’ve got one.
It’s nowhere near “guaranteed to get you the stomp no matter what” unless the players on the other team are terrible and don’t know how stealth works in this game.
It doesn’t make you invincible or immune to interrupts.
