Still crying over no dual swords.
I want my thieves to use a mace.
Like Garret’s Blackjack in the Thief series!
But yeah, I wish I could dual wield swords, or maybe a shield that would be used for parrying instead of blocking (daggers could’ve done that but they already got some moves)
I want Greatsword with Combo/Mobility or Combo/Buff skills. Who said that Thief can’t be dirty fighter and use big bad**s weapons as ace in his sleve.
edit. Lol, Bad**s with 2 a’s showed up as “kittens” before i edited it. Nice Anet!
I’ve stated this before in other places:
-Off-hand sword.
-Rifle
-Longbow (remove shortbow if you have to we need a long range weapon)
Our slot skills lack any sort of flexibility aside from a flurry of different looking passives. We need more variety provided in weapons as a result.
I’m kinda in two minds over this;
I love the whole 2 swords, slashing things up and just looking awesome…
But then I remember that this isn’t a rogue, it’s a thief. Much more lightfooted and quick, not clanging around with long pieces of steel hung around your waist.
But you can form an argument either way. Just as long as we don’t get an influx of “I wants teh maces liek rouges!”

Thief is supposed to be an all-encompassing archetype for a variety of similar classes, including; Assassin, Brawler, Thief (duh), Rogue. Different selected play-styles by the player should determine which one they are more akin to playing (some of us want to weild claws and pop out of the shadows – just because we’re called “Thief” instead of “Assassin” doesn’t mean we don’t have the same skill sets).
Rifle and a change up to main hand pistol skill 2 (perhaps the original leg shot cripple) would be ideal. Right now our ranged options are limited. SB for condition aoe mobility and pistols for single target damage, except the utility of SB currently blows pistols out of the water for anything beyond flavor. An assassin with a rifle sniping at people also seems to fit the theme.
Ooh…now claw weapons would be nice!
In all honesty, I often wonder why Anet didn’t make all weapons available for all proffs (except scepters/staves for non-magic and a few choice weapons vicer-versa).
Have to admit; I would love a rifle
i’d like an off-hand sword. feels thematically appropriate and having another weapon option would be nice.
man…the dual skill for dual swords could be epic…maybe do an omni-slash/teleport thing….
shadowsteps to a target, strikes them repeats up to 3 enemies within 5 yards…if there is only one target it does it 3 times to the same target
that would be so epic
I do feel the thief is lacking a little variety when it comes to weapons.
We really only get to chose between Sword and Dagger as melee and Pistols and Shortbow as ranged. While there are quite a few combinations, it’s still very limited compared to other classes.
A dual-sword feature might not be the most archetypical but would certainly be an efficient way of giving thieves a little more choice.
There is several weapon combinations i would like to see thieves get aometime in the future.
dual swords
torch in either main hand or off hand
single weapon style for dagger, sword and pistol with a full 5 skills when offhand is empty
rifle
Thieves use whatever they have at their disposal. Saying we’re not assassins or rogues is just stupid. If a Norn thief had to use his Asura buddy as a weapon, he would.
