If you tell them you like it, it will get nerfed. If you want to keep good changes, don’t tell them you like it – just keep complaining as usual!

At what point has any skill/ability on thief forums EVER been praised without henceforth being nerfed?

Never. Although not many patches have come along where thieves actually had anything to be happy about anyway…

LS is a great example: People said Yay we get to steal boons and total cost 4 init. What do the next patches do? Increase cast cost, reduce boon steal. They made it almost as bad as before they changed anything at all. If you had any sense you would’ve kept your happiness to yourselves.

Omg I think you are right. I once made a lengthy guide/post about daze builds that got deleted then everything about the build was nerfed.

Mug got nerfed cause we all included it when we talked about how hard our d/d backstab combos(which are now laughable) hit, which they even stated as the reason for the nerf even though it worked 10x better with heartseeker

Maybe I’m crazy, but it’s not the Thief build and the Thief skills and the ‘nerfs’ that make me not want to play a Thief anymore, it’s this terrible Thief community. Holy crap guys, can’t we like, do something productive? I still destroy in WvW, I have 0 problems in PvE (I’m the one that’s always reviving all the dead teammates in Dungeons and Fractals). I mean…

This is so untrue. If you go to the Warrior forum, they like a lot of things yet never get the nerfs they deserve.

ArenaNet discriminates against Thieves, there are no other reasons for this.

Doesn’t work because I kept my build pretty much to myself and it got nerfed anyways, probably because I killed or escaped exactly 1 Anet staff member in one single occasion in WvWvW and made him angry. Then a skill no one uses was nerfed.

So if you like something, not only do you need to keep it secret but you have to not use it at all.

That’s because all they play are warriors, lol.

TBH though, doesn’t matter what game it is….thief/rogue archetype always gets the most hate….the most nerfs that really destroy the fun in playing those classes. Might be a blanket statement across most games, but it also seems like this play type is almost never represented by dev players. Not vocally anyway.

I’m not sure how biased the devs can be towards each class, but we are human so. People will be people. I remember a long time ago in another game something a dev once said " Frost mages are balanced at high end pvp, and that is what we balance around, so we will not be nerfing them. It would be cool if we could find a way to nerf them at lower skill levels while keeping top end arena balanced though".

The same dev then goes on to say in a different thread " Warriors are balanced at high end pvp, but we balance around the majority so we will be nerfing warrior burst in pvp. It would be cool if we could find a way to nerf them at lower skill levels while keeping top end arena balanced though". Ghostcrawler was my hero….yeah, no!

lol it is a nightmare that we get sooooo much hate mesmers. would share some if the hate but no one wants to play the butterfly character lol ! even though they r soooooooo OP!

It was seriously the most absolute random nerf ever, aside from the junk they did to Shortbow a while back. Now a fun skill that no one had room for because of SoS and was rarely used is now 100% never used.

ahhh i want to play the game but can’t because they r destroying the class . if i play the game i will be even more mad that i can’t play my class right ! i do not want to play a support thief ZZZZZZZ put me to sleep y don’t u ! we r never going to get our infiltrate strike back will we ! should i just stop spending time on the forum and hoping they will ever fix the class and just quit now! … they never fixed the bow but thats not as bad a nerf as the infiltrate strike nerf . i am really close to quitting this game . it is a huge headache to get all this ascend armor for my thief and now not want to play at all ! lol i almost had the bolt to …. no reason to have that now the SWORD IS USELESS !!! plz give us our stun break back on the sword ! lol srry but i see nothing but doom and gloom 4 the thief … i don’t even want to know what the next nerf will hold in store for our class this has ben far from fare and balanced !
