Suggested Thief Runes
I’m using Runes of Strength with the pretty standard 0/30/30/10/0 build. You get might on stealth with the grandmaster minor trait so you get at least 2 stacks of might when you set up a backstab and the 6/6 set bonus gives you +5% damage when you have might.
I actually run D/P and D/D at the same time. I run Bloodlust until 25 stacks, and also have Applied Strength and Applied Fortitude. Used with the trait Hidden Killer (didn’t like Executioner, as the failed crits on BS happened far too often because I only have a base 49% crit chance.)
I used to run scholar runes but the amount of time I spend above the health threshold to get the 6/6 bonus from those isn’t all that much because I run in a small havoc group and we like to fight groups bigger than us lol.

Runes of Divinity if you are going for the backstab build.
The best runes for a roaming d/d or d/p thief out there.
Travelers not bad either
ruby orbs >>>> Runes of Divinity in my honest opinion
Same +crit Damage, but a LOT more power and a bit prec
In terms of damage, ruby orbs would be better, although the small boost to other stats is ok I guess…
Keep in mind that the next balance patch, whenever it comes out, is going to have a both 1) the change to crit damage, and 2) the results of the rune/sigil rework.
You may want to just use Ruby Orbs for the time being, before committing any substantial amount of cash.
After some research, I ended up going with Superior Runes of Lyssa due to the current cost of Superior Runes of the Traveler. The buffs on healing and elite skill usage have already proven helpful. I looked at the Superior Runes of Divinity but, for now, I am going to stick with the Lyssa runes until I can get the Traveler runes.
Currently, I am running full Berserker equipment with Knight’s armour. I run dual D/P with might on swap, to end up with about 15 stacks of might during a battle. If I had seen the Dvitity runes before I got the Lyssa runes, then I may have gone with those instead. As it stands, 17g already spent, is enough incentive to stick with my current choice. Thanks for the replies. =)
Superior Rune of the Assassin
1: +5% damage when flanking
2: +10% condition duration
3: +10% damage when flanking
4: +10% boon duration
5: +15% damage when flanking
6: Gain protection and regen while suffering from Revealed (10s cooldown).
…wait for it.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Lyssa is a good choice; it gives you lots of good stuff, including an answer to condition bombs. I am praying it doesn’t get nerfed in the rune balance patch.
Hopefully you’re invested in Acrobatics with that build.

Ruby orbs will be trashed with the Ferocity change.
I’m using Runes of Strength as well as they have great synergy with 25 points in Shadow Arts.
The bonus to Power + the 5% static damage increase results in higher damage output than Divinity Runes or any of the Orbs.
Yes, I even tested it. My average Backstab on Karka went from 5000 with Beryl Orbs to roughly 5250 with Runes of Strength. I must admit though that I do miss the extra HP a little.
I notice that many classes run Melandru Runes and Lemongrass/Poultry soup, but rarely see this set-up recommended for Thieves? Any specific reason(s)?
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.
We want everyone on an equal power base.”
^ Mel’s and Lemongrass are a good answer to conditions if you are a profession that’s forced to stay in fights and tough it out. Thieves have our best condition removal in stealth, which is a disengage, and we also rely on having good damage to do work most of the time, so those runes/food sort of conflict with that goal.
Although you’ll see a Thief using Saffron-scented Poultry Soup on occasion, because it has really excellent synergy with Withdraw.

Thank you for the response, it was helpful.
