Is there anyway for thieves to get 100% swiftness uptime? Yes i know about the 25 % signet. I’m asking about swiftness.

If your willing to sacrifice your endurance/and your healing ability, and your runes, yes.

Yes there is, but it requires a lot of effort…

30 into acrobatics provides:
2 seconds of swiftness on dodge (5 point trait)
4 seconds of swiftness on kill (10 point trait)
30% boon duration (30 points)

30 into trickery provides:
10 second shorter cooldown on Steal
10 seconds swiftness on Steal (10 point trait)
15 seconds vigor on steal (20 point trait)

If loaded up with 2x Air, Pack and Speed runes you’ll have 90% extra swiftness duration (60% from runes and 30% from Acrobatics line)

Dodging will provide 2.6 seconds of swiftness (Without runes) and 3.8 with runes.
A kill will provide 5.2 seconds of swiftness without runes and 7.6 with runes
Steal will provide 13 seconds of swiftness without runes and 19 with runes along with 19.5 seconds of vigor.

With Vigor from steal, the regen back when dodging trait (15 Acro) and some endurance regen food it should be possible to keep dodging to get swiftness.

Yes. Get used to heal more frequently with withdraw. Its also a evade for almost 1 sec, and removes movement impairing conditions, notably immobilize. Then use full centaur rune set. Its what i use in www.
I believe what you want is to save the SoS slot and get a speed buff that enables you to run away from others with swiftness, as SoS is clearly slower (for those that are sceptical, try chasing a SoS thief with perma swiftness and watch as the signet thief will be caught easier than you would imagine). This is my fix for it in www, as this set of runes serves both power builds and condition (bleed) builds. In spvp, either run without it and trust your shorbow, or take the signet. WWW is a much more forgiving environment, as you can make out for some losses in crit dmg or condition dmg with foods.
Withdraw is our most powerful on use heal, unless you have an extraordinary amount of healing power.

Adapt or die. I never die.

Runes of the Centaur along with a bunch of points in Acrobatics does the trick. Otherwise you’re out of luck and will either need the signet or to bum speed off of allies.

If you use Dagger/Pistol and have the Fleet Shadow trait, you can alternate between stealth speed (you can stealth anytime with Dagger/Pistol) and dodge swiftness for virtually 100% swiftness.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I was wondering if anything had changed since the new specializations have come into effect? I just use a Sup Sigil of Speed on 1 weapon – kill a half dozen trash mobs & you have 2 mins (I think it’s capped to that) of swiftness, which might as well be perma.

Thief has access to a 25% movement speed sigil.
Plus many blinks/dashes with no cooldown (just initiative).
Equip a dagger or a shortbow.

Thiefs and Elementalists have the highest mobility in the game.
Just +25% perma speed and blinks.

@Kidel: Thieves and Elementalists may come in first and second respectively (Ele first when using FGS), they’ll have to spend major CDs doing so. A GS Warrior will always be the fastest when its about maintaining a state of combat readyness, because Eles will spend all escape mechanisms and thieves basicly have to drain all their CDs (initiative based and utilities) in order to just keep up with a GS Warrior. Even if you reach him, you won´t have the resources as a thief to whittle him down and as an Ele you may be unable to escape the fight if it goes bad.

The swiftness on dodge is next to useless with its base two second duration because the dodge animation lasts about one second and moves you around with fixed 125% movement speed, essentially wasting 50% of the swiftness gained from dodging. If it was to be made useful again, ArenaNet should handle it like Ranger’s Companion’s Defense trait, where the protection on dodge is applied after your dodge finished.

Runes of the Centaur in combination with a tonic to get around supplies you with endless Swiftness. Next is any useful Swiftness increasing rune like Rune of the Pack in combination with Thrill of Crime. That gets you to about 70% swiftness uptime. You may cover the remaining 30% with Infiltrator’s Arrow if availiable. Don’t use Heartseeker as it already only was faster than Infiltrator’s Arrow prepatch by a small margin, and especially out of combat it is only faster than 133% by a small margin now.

I see no problem in spending cd during exploration. If you want mobility while fighting you have a lot of blinks already and a lot of passive movement speed.

And you don’t have to follow a Warrior. Just stealth and basilisk venom. You’re also talking about the only 1 class that is not wreacked by a thief burst. You should have counters guys.
Thief has some god mode builds atm.
