Theme: High Daze, High Blind, High Condition Removal, Medium HP, Low Toughness

I’ve been “stealthless” for a while, decided to bring some heavier stealth back into the build, especially with the new Shadow Trap. There are also two passive stealths, the much maligned Last Refuge, and the new and improved Instinctual Response.

I feel like there are a lot more conditions floating out there since the balance patch, and so dipped 10 points into SA to cleanse on stealth. Lyssa Runes are good for condi’s as always.

You fail to use the Sword daze at the best time, when someone is trying to raise someone you downed. You daze them and they stop, and then you punish the both of them with sword auto attacks for a few seconds.

I’m sure you’ll get better as you play it more, so keep up the effort and killin them bads.

I got the same when I offered helpful advice and tried to be nice. Some people just cant take being told things they could do better.

But seriously, I disagree with your statements about top servers. All the good small roaming guilds moved to the bottom, and all the real roamers followed. All the upper tiers have is more people. That doesnt play into skill IMO, unless you consider learning to run from 50 man zergs every 10 minutes a skill.

Ah, but that’s the reason why he should transfer. There’s no benefit fighting another roamer, but there’s a lot of benefit fighting a zerg — it makes him realize the value of toughness and vitality — but the purpose of my suggestion is based around making good videos — not skills — but if it teaches him how to use Sword#2 properly, then that’s an icing on the cake.

Actually if you recall above, the one piece of advice you gave me, I simply said thank you.

You see I think a major divide here is that you guys are thinking that I must think I’m just the best thing ever, and "where do I get off posting this or that, or something. “He ain’t all that”.

Well I think we finally agree on something. I absolutely don’t think I’m the best. And if having a snarky attitude is part of the price of entry, I’ll stay here in baddie land, posting videos of me doing what I enjoy.

I learn from every video posted and every duel, won and lost. I don’t claim any grand skill in any of these. I post my wins because it takes hours to put together footage and that’s the footage I like. I’m not trying to argue this build is the best, where do I do that?

I hope you understand what I mean with my posts. If you spent hours to put together a video, isn’t it much better to select a footage of a great fight even if you lose than post a win against mediocre opponents?

I watched you move in that video and I know you can do better.

I can always do better for sure, posting these videos (which I view several times myself of course, learning from my many mistakes), being self critical, and listening to critical advice definitely helps all of that.

I like to have a “hook” with my videos, that hook happens to be that they all correspond to what I believe is a different build or style for me, from my perspective.

I have toyed with the idea of posting raw roaming footage, but the issue is two fold, length of the video, and entertaining moments. Though maybe me kiting a group of enemies around the map is more entertaining to others than I give it credit for. It’s certainly hard to find a “raw” 15 mins of game footage to simply post up as say “this is a build”, but maybe I will. What would you do? It seems like the general rule is 15 min length. Otherwise aint no body got time for that.

I’m thinking what you want to see is a video with both wins and losses, are the losses fun for others to see? Maybe they would be, I don’t know I haven’t heard that from anyone until now.

I have to say, if my “wins” illicit so many negative responses aimed directly at how I’m clearly not as good as I think I am, (which is a projection… since I don’t claim anywhere to be any kind of “good”), imagine what my “losses” would generate!

One thing I like seeing in the video is the “edge of the seat” moments. If it’s a good fight and makes your build shines because you give it your all, then even if you lose, it’s a great video.

If you’re juking with Sword#2, forcing one player to peal out from a group just to die, playing a major part in a zerg even if you die, etc. are great video footage — because from those video, we may learn something.

But if you make a video about 90% of the thieves are already doing with their eyes closed and one hand tied behind their back – figuratively – then yeah, that video is nothing special since it doesn’t show something we have not seen before.

If you watch Jumper’s videos, he uses Sword #2 in a way I personally cannot pull off myself. I didn’t finish watching his video either, not because it’s boring, but because I want to try that play style myself.

I’m not saying that you should play like Jumper — I don’t think anyone can — but he makes good videos — also Yishis’ outnumbered videos are great watch too.

Watch not how they play, but how they make their video and how they edit it.

Question: You mention travel capability in your vid (during guardian standoff), but I’m not seeing where you get it. You get ~7sec swiftness from Lyssa+Elite, ~12 from stealing, ~2 from dodging, can dodge x3. Thats not really good swiftness uptime for traveling unless you get really lucky and get swiftness off a heal.

Suggestion: Steal more buffs with sword3! One fight near NW camp, the enemy (Engi?) had 10-21 stacks of might.

This is the most hilarious comment I have ever seen in the thief forums. Are you really calling riot good and red guard bad? Youre aware red guard fought your 100 person zergs with 25 and beat them 90% of the time, right? Maybe thats why youre so mad about them, you got your butt kicked to many times. Did any of the SOR or BG guilds that GvG’d them even win 1 round? (the answer is no) Cant say Ive ever seen a group of riot players fight 3-4x their numbers and win, ever. Let alone have a 100% win rate against even numbers from an organized group.

Lol. I am from SBI… That server your guild bailed on as soon as it wasn’t T1 easy mode without War Machine. Shame, because you guys had a pretty good commander. But I guess when the bandwagon comes you gotta get that free ride.

I’m calling RG bad because they roll in huge groups to win. When they win outnumbered, it has more to do with stacking guardians, staff eles and a few blasters (while their opponents are composed of all classes) than it does with that psycho yelling into ventrilo. Neither of those takes skill. I call RioT good, because their players consistently put out great 1vX videos. That has nothing to do with WvW performance or leadership, its a testament to the high quality of many of their individual players.

That was more of tangent though, the real point was that Tier does not equal Skill. On any server, most players are bad. It doesn’t magically get better in T1, its just that you have more zerglings than everyone else. If anything, that probably decreases the concentration of quality.

Since when is 25 a huge group? I guess this is your low tier mentality kicking in. 25 is small compared to T1 or T2 zergs which are composed of 60+ 90% of the time. It doesn’t matter don’t you see? He thinks he’s more credible sitting at the lower tier server. He obviously have not met SoR’s annoying P/D+SB Roamers and TC’s map wide coordination. Not to mention Blackgate having all of the above.

The credibility is that our server, like many others, has played at multiple tier levels, including tier 1 for a very long time. we have even played Blackgate, SoR, and TC, despite your supposition to the contrary. T1 servers are not magically better or more skilled than any other tier. Most servers, even in mid tiers, have server wide teamspeak and multi-map coordination, TC isnt special in that regard. Good commanders can make a difference in a battle (look at what PRX accomplished), but bodies and coverage win matches (look at what full maps and the night shift accomplishes). Every server has some really good commanders. Not every server has the same size wvw population and coverage though, and that decides who wins more than any interesting commander tactic ever did.

Here are somethings to ask yourself:
*Are most of the players in the top tier originally from those servers, or did they transfer in from a losing server? Probably transfered. The oldest top tier server being JQ, which is filled with just as many bandwagoners (one of them is posting in this thread) as originals.
*Did the players who transfered in magically become better players? …? …?
*Do higher tiers attract better players? Sometimes, sure. Sometimes not (look at Anonymous Defenders, great players, great vids, keep it low tier to avoid zerg nonsense). If they do attract good players, they also attract bads, and there are many more of those than good players. This inherently defeats any “higher concentration” of good players idea, because for every 1 good recruit they get X zerglings.
*SBI is home to Xsorus, arguably one of the best rangers in the game. Not top tier though. NSP is home to XOXO and SPCA, great roaming guilds that could take on any equal sized group from JQ or Blackgate. NSP is ranked 16th.

Question: You mention travel capability in your vid (during guardian standoff), but I’m not seeing where you get it. You get ~7sec swiftness from Lyssa+Elite, ~12 from stealing, ~2 from dodging, can dodge x3. Thats not really good swiftness uptime for traveling unless you get really lucky and get swiftness off a heal.

Suggestion: Steal more buffs with sword3! One fight near NW camp, the enemy (Engi?) had 10-21 stacks of might.

Nice effort on the video but those players you downed are obviously bad players – pre-selected encounters chosen by you to make your build look good — well, it’s not.

First fight was with a 30% HP thief took about 6K damage before going down so based by that, she had around 19k HP. Downing her while she’s damaged only makes you look bad.
Second against a Ranger who never switched to a melee weapon —- makes you look bad.
3rd a staff Guardian sigh — makes you look worst.
… then I had watched enough since it just keeps getting worst.

And your play style is so generic. You’re not even using S/D skills properly, especially Sword#2 — I’d say, I’ve seen better game play.

If you make a video winning fighting against the following, I’d be your biggest fan;
1) SB + S/D Ranger
2) Scepter/Focus + Hammer Guardian
3) Mace/Shield + GS Warrior
4) D/P + SB Thief
5) Staff + Sword/Focus Mesmer
6) D/D Elementalist

And if you want to make relevant videos, you should transfer server to either one of the top 4. It will also make you a better player after playing against those servers.

I saw this guy saying that the best way to counter a thief as a mesmer is “acting as a clone”, and wish is a d/p thief who claims to be a guardian but he never posted in that part of the forum… so take it easy,

Who are as good as AD, noQQ and Btsy from DR, also at the bottom, and theyre all better than anything I have ever seen from Blackgate or Sanctum of Rall. even Riot. Having fought all 6 of those guilds by myself and with about even numbers of competent players, fighting them with vastly superior numbers, and even some 1v1s, I can tell you straight up, Riot isn’t anywhere near as good as the other small man teams. But hey, at least theyre better than oPP.

Exactly what part of anything I have ever posted makes you think I play D/P? Was it the thread I created about min/maxing D/D builds? Was it the SS’s I posted where Im always using D/D or S/D? Was it builds I post different places that always show D/D and S/D? Or maybe the gear SS I recently posted that shows my collection of 8 daggers, 4 swords, and only 3 guns?
