Sword after patch
From my tests, chain takes about 1.87 seconds now, down from 2.52
This gives it a 1.55 dps coefficient
I tried it out on a few golems, the AA is noticeably faster

OK, but does it translates to a 30% dmg buff thanks to the fact that sword is hitting faster?

Ehh… sort of. Faster attacks mean higher DPS but not necessarily a similar increase to damage in a fight. Now if all a player does is spam the AA during a fight yes it is a straight damage buff. However AAs generally fill in between the big hitters of a weapon set.
Normally on another class that is limited by time, speeding up an AA would have a similar DPS effect. On a thief, we are limited by Initiative so it really comes down to an attack chain and how many more AAs can fit inside that chain. My guess is well less than 30% and probably like one more full AA chain every 30s or so. Still a nice buff but not a 30% damage buff.

Doing a really quick math check using above posts numbers of attack speed aswell as my berserker thiefs tooltip damage, the dps went from 909 to 1225. Bear in mind that this is just the tooltip damage, so crits and such hasn’t been taking into account.
Sword is doing very well now, in fact Acro/TR/DD and DA/acro/TR are VERY potent (I won some 1v1/2s and almost a 1v3 while testing). If you are playing S/d use those.
S/p…nothing really changed XD. You just got a random 5% more damage and a free evade free for 2seconds (which needs to be 3 seconds imo OR 40 down to 30 cd on it). Or you don’t bother and play max burst build (currently handing out and giving it more damage).
So ye I was having a blast.
Would you say Acro Tr DD beats DA Acro Tr?
Alright so for Sword the “30%” buff isn’t really 30% but less but still a buff.
That’s good to know at least.

the test I did in the lobby. Sword AA DPS is still way lower than Staff and Dagger AA DPS.
All I can say is getting hit by 3k D/P AA’s or speeded S/D AA’s I know what I’d prefer. Have a feeling D/P (as for D/D – good luck to them, they need all the help they can get) AA is gonna get some serious QQ…

So a ~25.75% increase. They added a 5% damage buff for Sword to Swindler’s Equilibrium. Maybe their stated 30% included that trait buff… Saying they increased it by about 30% was misleading then.

Well, not really if you use the raw numbers they provided.
The following are the sword AA chain attack speed increases from the patch notes:
Slice: Attack point improved by 0.16s
Slash: Aftercast improved by 0.1s
Crippling Strike: Attack point improved by 0.08s
Crippling Strike: Aftercast improved by 0.48s
Adding all these up, you get a 0.82s total reduction in a single AA chain. Since the old AA chain time was 2.52s, the improvement is 0.82/2.52 = 32.54%
I believe this is where the 30% figure came from. However, note that I have not tested this myself at all, and it is very possible the actual improvement is worse (and is likely worse than Dagger and Staff autos in any case). It is also worth noting that AA chain skills generally ignore the aftercast of the previous skill in the chain, so it is very possible that the 0.1s aftercast reduction on slash does nothing (this would reduce the “listed” dps increase to 28.57%, which is still somewhat close to 30% at least).
The sword seems so very responsive now. Just wish my autos could break the 2k damage barrier with my Marauder amulet. #TheDream
