Guild Wars 2

This message is from O.M.L. and it does not seem like a nice note…

It has come to my attention that this guild doesn’t do anything (pvp wise) as per a few members whom just recently quit through the GW2 mail system. And as someone who cares for the guild I feel it is necessary that I tackle this problem immediately. But before I do, I want to make sure we are on the same page.

There are about 5 members out of 160 that I know in the guild that actually contributes, myself including 4 other members. All 5 of us have jobs, all 5 of us have lives, all 5 of us have specific jobs pertaining to the guild. We all contribute and in return we see that [Teef] is starting to make it’s mark.

The mail I received was nothing less than insulting, insinuating that the guild is an overglorified contact list and I suck as a guild leader. And all I can think of is, “Well kitten! If you wanted to do pvp events then MAYBE you should start some!”

This guild is like 2-3 months old. There isn’t alot to it but kitten , contributing would be nice. Donating to our arenas and directing recruits to our thread would be a good start. Doing classes, writing up reading material, theorycrafting sessions, etc. does more for this guild than you’de think. AT MINIMUM you could at least check the MotD every 5 days. You don’t even have to rep for that kitten! lol

Like, I didn’t start this guild thinking I was going to show players how to use d/x better. I made it because nobody else would when it needed to happen. A majority of players in GW2 are bad whether they believe it or not. Thief can be a major pain in the kitten to handle both playing as and against. And so I spend my free hours thinking, “Golly what could I do for the guild today?” and write up crap for you to READ and TRY. I’ve tried to encourage people to be a bit more proactive with the guild, constantly messaging them to make sure they KNOW whats going on. Other times, I think about ways to diversify the builds for this profession while at the same time determining the best way to build this guild up. And while I am busting my kitten between having a job and real life obligations I am burning up my free time trying to give this guild some value…

And then you leave and tell me I am a kitten git? Thank god this is the internet.

So here I am writing this message to you all so that we all can be on the same page.

I have a life. I can’t be there to make everyone’s experience awesome all of the time. That doesn’t mean you can’t. If you feel that this guild doesn’t do enough, then make it do enough. Stop playing pvp hero, stop bankstanding and organize an event. You don’t need to be an officer or an admin to make a [Teef] thread announcing it.

Pick a date, write and tag a thread, keep people updated on changes and remind them of the event until it goes live. Then you just do it. That simple.

Would be nice if we had a dev joining us but on the other hand it had to be at least 3 to 4; D/P, D/D, S/D and P/D – as all of us bash each other’s heads in as we’re all playing different specs, so maybe no one can be an expert on all weapon sets thief (or any class) has got – I don’t know.

I know there is an all thief pvp guild but [Teef] is something completely different.

He shouldn’t take it so seriously. We did try to organize things, most of the time only few people were interested actually. People just sit on their fat butts and expect to be fed from golden spoons w/o doing something themself. I am on vacation with my BF atm so i can’t do much besides pouring some gold into EU arena but i hope i get more time later. But once again, if people don’t show up there also will be no interest (logically) from organizers.

When I first joined Teef I was so full of light and hope (Shadows and Trickery?), ready to not just play a thief, but to BE a Teef. But the changes in the June patch just killed something in my enjoyment of the class, so I tried other classes to get better. First Mesmer, then Ranger. Then I decided I wanted to get back into WvW heavily, so I rerolled Mesmer for the utility of Portal, Focus pulls, and Group Stealth all in one. Working on all of this got me into a WvW dedicated guild, and my time in game usually just coincides with their primary playtime.

It’s not that I ‘left’ the guild, or decided to stop being a part of it. I just kind of gravitated away from the thief. Which has sadly left me at a bit of a crossroads on what my next steps should be.

Well, you could always use the knowledge of playing mesmer to show people how to counter them on a thief.

I’m always willing to help out and a few times I’ve gotten wvw groups together. Just don’t see a ton of participation from members of the guild. I’ve organized wvw roaming, pvp groups, etc and nobody seems to want to join me when I offer. Thinking of starting a training course too in the next couple weeks if anyone is interested in helping me out with organizing the event and training anybody who is interested in getting better at thief. If we could get that posted in the MOTD that’d be helpful as well.

I’m not in this guild and was only passing by the forums and started reading this.

I’ve been a guild leader and pro active member of guilds in other games and I gotta say it’s not uncommon for this sort of thing to happen.

I hope you can get another half a dozen to a dozen people to help share the load of organising and running events. I may not share the same opinion on the state of thief as some/many of you however I can respect the focus of the guild, to make people better players.

I do hope this is resolved.

I know I was given some responsibility to organize events, I’ve just got a lot on my plate and only log on for at most 3 hours a day if at all, and those are at random times.

I’ll try to get more events goin but even so, Teef was about a social guild for thief players especially new ones seeking advice. I wouldn’t consider Teef to be the kind to do a calendar and host weekly events for other guilds to recognize us. I could care less if other guilds recognize us. From what I’ve seen we don’t promote our selves like that so yes, we could do a little more as a guild in game but its not what this guild was built on. Unless something has changed O.o

From what OML said it hasn’t. I think his gripe is he wants this guild to actually do what it was designed to do but can’t do it with the resources he has. I sympathize. Working hard for decent results only to have it all undermined would kitten me off too.

Could teef leaders mail me in game, I want to gather some information for an event.

If you guys in [Teef] want some help, I’d be happy to help. Anytime I’m on my thief, Im always attempting to mingle with the guildies. The only reason I joined is to spread the love I have for this class and maybe learn a few things too.
