Terrible thief community
Didn’t we just have an outnumbered video right before the patch?
Are videos a pre-requisite for providing meaningful commentary or something?
I’m new to the thief class, but I’ve come here and asked numerous questions and have been given very detailed responses. I honestly have no complaint about the thief community here.
Try asking for help from the Ranger community. 9 times out of 10 their response is “you should know this without asking”
I can somewhat agree. It was a lot more ( may it be a montage or a guide ) when the game released. But i think it’s due to population, I’m browsing Youtube almost every day for some new neat video’s but 90% of the time it’s just some low resolution thief ganking upscaled ppl in WvW.
I would love top Pve/Pvp’ers to make guides/montages/highend fractals gameplay etc with commentary!
Here is a perfect example of Neglekt, for da community !

(I know there are a alot more IA guide’s but this was just an example, Lowell and Raaar has some sweet ones aswell that i know of )
I might start recording myself some day if i get the time for it.
peace

^I don’t think those people even play anymore, they posted videos only like 6-8 months back.
Please don’t make videos with awful dubstep music. ;/
Don’t you guys regard the gw2 thief community as terrible?
Think of other MMO’s where each class has a youtuber that represents it and is pro, releasing content with new builds and tricks that unites the community of the class! (e.g swifty for warriors in wow)I feel like gw2 generally has a bad youtube community and that most videos for gw2 were all released 9 months ago around release….
Thief videos are getting released all the time. If you can’t find any new ones on Youtube, that’s because you probably don’t know how to search on it properly. Google owns Youtube, and they both use the same garbage priorities.
Basically, the older and more watched a video is, the more likely it is to show up in your results.
A video could match your search criteria perfectly, but if its really new or if not many people ever watched it, it will just straight up not appear in many cases.
You have to go into the filters and mess with the Upload Dates if you want to find newer stuff.
On Google for example, you could do a search for the latest news on a particular subject, and everything you see will be from like last year, for the very fact that it IS old, which is exactly what you DON’T want.
To find what you want with them, you really need to know how to game their system.
Not finding something doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

What about this

i think it fits our class
That’s because the Thief was a lot more interesting to watch (and arguably also play) when it didn’t play like an Assassin. Watching a player backstab a foe, and down him in 2 seconds, isn’t exactly quality footage. And it has also build up a lot of hate around the profession. In late beta/early release, when the general Thief playstyle was based around movement, it was very entertaining to both watch and play against. So even though the Thief is a lot more popular now, then it was at release, the “Assassin playstyle” doesn’t really make for good footage.

i actually encounter a lot of thieves in spvp and of course wvw, but i prefer the ones in spvp as there is very little permastealth and a had some pretty epic duels with them. the thief community is not that bad, maybe u can get some footage from the SOAC tournament.

Unfortunately this game does not have a large streaming community, but there are a couple of good spvp thieves that stream occassionally. They are pretty cool guys, and I’m sure if you popped in their channel they would be willing to answer questions for you. I find streams much more interesting than video montages, since they are all live and interactive.
Off the top of my head for NA….
Jumper – http://www.twitch.tv/loljumper
Caed – http://www.twitch.tv/narcarsis (good but streams rarely lately)
And a couple others you might sometimes see – Cruuk (hasn’t streamed in awhile, twitch.tv/nosuchthingashalfwaycruuk), Ace (forget his stream link)
If a thief team is formed for SOAC, and I’m allowed, I will also be streaming that on Thursday (see my sig).
NA tPvP – Elementalist – Thief

I believe there is a link in the spvp forums for thief streamers. I like to watch koroshi’s stream from time to time. He plays more than just thief but his main is thief and he plays wvw mostly. Twitch.tv/sir_koroshi
Caed streams from time to time but I don’t think he really cares about community.
I’ve watched jumpers streams too. I don’t like most videos because they are mostly edited stream footage with music if the same guy owning. Rather watch a stream than that.
I like the more artistic videos that tell a story with game play footage thrown in but not the main focus of the film. I think I’ve only seen 1 or 2 of those videos.
