Boy don’t we all miss the days when thieves could fight a zerg single handedly?
I mean… all these nerfs are so unjustified.
This video is a 5man group fighting a zerg, not just a single thief…
90% of the people in the video stood still or didnt even fight back.

The Thief’s problems run deeper than even a summary of changes over years can show (despite most of those changes being nerfs). In my opinion, the far bigger issue is how the profession has been left behind.
From a development standpoint, there doesn’t appear to be any meaningful sense of passion for the Thief profession. Over time, this leads to less communication and hands-on attention, which naturally leads to receiving less of the changes (and subsequent power creep) that other professions have over time.
This lack of developer engagement also leads to the Thief being left out of game-wide systems changes, like when all remaining range-increasing traits were removed (and largely integrated as baseline range increases) over the series of a few patches… for every profession but Thief. Then, after months of asking for a response on Ankle Shots, it was quietly “bugfixed” (AKA hastily nerfed to give no range increase, as changing the base Pistol range would actually take effort).
The Ankle Shots and Withdraw debacles are very illustrative of just how hard it is to get any traction on even the smallest and most practical of requests. While Thief is not the only profession to suffer from this lack of attention over time, it is the worst off for it.
For a good comparison, look no further than Ranger, which was often neglected for months or years at a time itself. And yet, thanks to Irenio, it has received some baseline improvements over the last few months that are meaningful, even for those who DON’T purchase the expansion. All it took was a little love and attention! I think I may be sensing a moral of the story…

Attention all thieves…Your usefulness in raids is being “questioned” by the gw2 community as they claim we “bring nothing special” to the 10 mans.
Please don’t be surprised if you are shunned or neglected when the patch releases.
If you go to the dungeons/fractals section of the forums, there’s a question on what each profession brings to the raids and from the looks of the replies, it seems our attendance to ten mans are not desired as with other professions.
I tried my best to fight for our viable spot but was meet with negative resistance.
They cried to have us nerfed and now they condemn us for not bringing anything to the table, they even assault our numbers in the dps bracket.This needs to be brought to the attention of ANET asap, or have a representative set the record straight on “what can a thief bring to the raid that makes their attendance UNIQUE”.

I love how Anet had to ruin Acrobatics to make an elite spec for thief. I love how Anet had to get rid of the one thing pistol had going for it (Ricochet and the range buff lol). I love how thief is supposed to be the best single target damage but in reality does some of the least damage in PVE. I love how thief is almost completely useless in raids: chronomancer boon strips and cc’s better than a thief, most classes have better DPS, most classes do condi better than thief, and thieves can’t tank or heal.

And as far as the first point, its true. I miss the good ole days when everyone had a fair chance, now i get one shot for one hit before i die instantly. #bringthiefback
Just came over from the Rev forums. You should check it out, its pretty funny, and by funny, I mean its our forums at launch, cant wait to see them fall, and by fall, I mean plummet at Mac 5 from orbit, like we did.

You can even keep the cap on my warp! I admit it! It was BS that I could run through an enemy zerg, down someone and port half a map away.
So please, As someone who has played nearly exclusively as a thief since the first beta’s, just throw us a bone already, I’m so tired of being the low man on my groups totem.

The worst is they give us ZERO responses……. i agree with however said devs dont pay attention to thief AT ALL because its true.
A long time ago, a sarcastic question was given to developers, if they were going to take stealth away from thieves and give it to the guardian. The developers laughed at the sarcastic remark made by the thieves.
…now present day gw2. Trapper runes for guardian and stealth thief is out of the meta.
Daunt, I believe the phrase you are searching for is “Working as intended”.
In addition to the guardian remark… I like how engies now have a MOVING shadow refuge on 30cd that DOESN’T BREAK when you leave the aoe.
