The most broken class in any MMO?
Yeah, but in the gw2 case they didn´t create a kittened up class, they made it a kittened up class.

you have multiple options for pve not requiring stealth.

But why can’t it be functional in pve?

You’re wrong :>
warriors lack the speed and cant hold 2 daggers.
K, nvm, flame on
They could just leave stealth as an option with utility skills and change how attacks use to function around it. Cloak and dagger could give 1 charge of protection on use instead of stealth and the special from the first skill could be a trigger that happens when you use an ability that requires initiative. Give it a 3 second window between triggers and change some of the stealth traits up to support less use of stealth and give a increase to base health and thieves would function better and be visible like everyone wants.
Otherwise at this rate thieves will end up like WOW rogues after BC and be the forgotten class that nobody wants.

Aren’t we already there? Maybe thief has a place in PvP (I don’t PvP much so I can’t say), but for PvE thief are a class that has no role or porpose, just a group filler if no other class are available.
I would like to state that stealth is not completely useless in PvE, as it is a perfect way to escape when you are out of a heal.
For instance; You are fighting 3 bandits after clearing out a den, you have 25HP. You tap 5 activating Cloak and Dagger, evade backwards and lay a trap of Ambush. After stealth wears off and you’ve made some distance away, they trigger the trap and are momentarily distracted. Meanwhile you’ve set down a Needle Trap. Sure you could have done all of this without stealth, but you would have been attacked for those few extra seconds and you might of died.

Thief =/= Multiple options.. lol You must still be talking about Warriors.
Thinking about it, I’ve actually been running a lot of dungeons and fractal 30 with my thief lately and it actually has a pretty good place in terms of pve. We actually have a fair amount of non-DPS utility. It’s only in pvp/wvw that I don’t feel as useful. The new bloodlust points feel like they were designed to help the thief be useful and is a step in the right direction, but I rarely pvp with my thief, and when I do its a lot of work for “meh” results. If they allowed for caps in stealth again, I’d probably be happy. Not for high stealth builds, but losing ground in an extended fight if you’re not using evade spam is kinda stupid, especially for a point that some AoE can almost entirely cover
Unless you rely on permastealth as a crutch, you can do just fine in pve on your thief. Move on.

You know, your oldest post is about 15 days ago, and from your language and attitude towards thieves I’m starting to think that Burnfall got a second account or maybe Columba or some similar character we dealt with in the past created a new one after getting banned. Most of your comments aren’t constructive and only denigrate one of the two play styles the thief has.
I am sorry that you think perma stealth is a legitimate play style. I don’t, and I think it hurts my favorite class, preventing it from getting fair treatment.
But why mods dont close this kind of threads?
jesus are the most useless thing in a forum.
It’s just troll complaints, broken, op, nerf nerf nerf. Nothing is contructive here. Nothing.
So why it’s still open?
While I don’t use it, its mechanics are by design, not by accident. It is a legitimate albeit sometimes frustrating mechanic to play against, but as soon as it has been nerfed, the other weapon sets that thief has will soon follow. Over the past year I have tried a number of builds and even S/P which is arguably underpowered resulted in someone joining my party asking/complaining about what I was doing. The thief has as its base mechanic the ability to annoy. Many of its abilities would be sub par were it not for the ability to use them repeatedly. We prey upon other’s mistakes/complacency to win a fight, especially when not built to burst. As soon as the mechanic that you believe overpowering has been toned down (re: nerfed) your build is next on the chopping block. Perma-stealth was a result of the reduction of burst (which is arguably on par with a warrior but by the devs definition we should be unrivaled in this aspect). S/D dodge/attrition is already being changed even though it just comes up to par with stunlock/condi spam builds out there. Before you look down on other builds, try them for yourself.
Give it attack speed, faster attacks while still low on health and/or armour could make it different from a warrior. Better give it chains of attack that stack for damage like we got in the gw1 assassin.
Thieves are fantastic PVE utility… I don’t know what you guys are talking about.
A good thief does more DPS than a warrior (assuming equal steroids), making a 2 warrior 1 thief 1 mesmer 1 X party ideal (offers all banners and maximizes DPS output). We offer the ability to skip through half of okitten fractals, and trivialize many portions of other dungeons (including allowing path 1 of Arah to actually be viable)… We boon strip better than any other class (great for COE golem and HotW) we burst better than any other class (Arah P2 final boss, CoF Controller). If you can’t find what thieves are good at, you aren’t looking.
