[TheoryCraft] Best Daredevil Build
Now i played now some days with soldier gear/Zerk Mix and Runes of the Pack. I can say it performs well. You have much amount of HP (18’00 +) and much armor. DMG with vault ect is decent and you can survive quit long.
Next thing what i want to test out is Cele Thief! With Signet of Malice and Invigorating Precision (CS traitline).
- 2.600 Power
- 2.700 armor
Not gonna happen.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
- 2.600 Power
- 2.700 armorNot gonna happen.
What about 2.700 Power and 2.600 armor?
Armor is a wasted stat to me on a thief at least in WvW since conditions completely ignore it. Stealth, Evasion and distance are the best mitigation for direct damage and Vitality is the best buffer for conditions. The staff build I use:
17k health, 2100 armor, 2600 power, 214% ferocity, 50% crit chance
Easy play mode is Steal->Daze->Hook Strike->2xWeakening Charge. Using Steal and Hook Strike are the keys to spiking big damage since both trigger Pulmonary Impact. Blinding Powder or Bandits Defense depending on how offensively minded a player is since BD is pretty powerful but BP has more utility. SoA is crazy good on the DareDevil since it adds precision, cures conditions and refills endurance.
“Best” DareDevil build we have found:
S/P alpha strike is incredibly powerful. Easy play mode: Infiltrators Strike→Immobilize→Pistol Whip→Stun→Pistol Whip Finish. Wait for them to blow their cooldowns: Steal→Daze→Pulmonary Impact→Pistol Whip. Nukes most players, NPC, etc.

Not while having 40% crit, 16k HP and 200% crit damage….you have to sac something.
Getting 2600 power and 2700 armor is easy…but we can’t expect having 16k HP, crit and crit damage.
It’s always been the case that in order to get 2600 power and 40% crit and 200% crit damage is that armor or HP (or both) is sacrificed.

Impacting Disruption is selected but :
neither the Hook strike knockdown nor the 1 sec daze from Steal are triggering the pulmonary impact. is this actually working for anyone?
The only obvious pulmonary impact I can seem to get is from Palm Strike.

It is a bit finicky but it does work. I think lag really effects interrupt in very strange ways.

This is the build I have been using for the past week. It is a power build using Valkyrie gears. Crit chance comes from DD runes, Thrill of the Crime and Signet of Agility, which turns out to be quite respectable. That said, I am aiming at a base 33% crit chance, or one in three chance while unbuffed; that means I have to use some precision infusion to achieve that eventually. Since there so many Herald these days, Fury has become easily accessible. I use Sigil of Strength and Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew to keep up a reasonable level of self Might stacking.
I use either Bounding Dodger or Unhindered Combatant depending on the circumstances. I do prefer Unhindered Combatant since I miss quite often with Bounding Dodger. Staff is the main weapon with X/D as secondary. I use either Steal or Vault as a gap-closer, then Dodge once before using Weakening Charge once or twice and then Dodge again for more DD rune proc.
I like it. The build is durable enough for most of the HoT fights and quite OP for non-HoT activities. The level of Toughness is not that high but I can evade rather often to avoid being hit at all. If I got hit, I still had enough Vitality to absorb the damage done. I have one stun break and one condi cleanse; more if I use Sword.

I’m wondering about this too for just general HoT content. I’m having fun with my full zerker DD but alot of the big mobs can one shot me and I have to be really careful. Meanwhile my reaper with full zerker can solo champ mobs lol.
The stat goal you set in unreasonable, there is no way to get 2.600 power withe the other requirements.
That said i mustered the closest stat line i could, but i had to use signet of agility (the base crit chance is 40.57% the keen observer trait is bumping it up to 45%)
You have permanent fury which also boosts critical damage (+250 ferocity which equates to +16% crit dmg), have some condition removal and good weakness application from sword auto attacks and w. strikes.
My suggestion is to drop the scrapper rune in favor of rune of durability (+175 power +125 toughness +20% boon duration 25% chance when struck to get 3 sec of regen and protection and 1 sec of resistance) for more raw stats and a better rune bonus since you already get a 10% dmg reduction from unhindered combatant (if you do this then you can drop some vitality and toughness from gear for more power).
EDIT: oh i just re-red your post and ye with food you can easily reach the stat goal:

I am confident you can do some more stat swapping to get 40% crit without agility signet but i do not have the time to tinker with the build more now (especially if you use rune of durability since it gives more stats).

I’m just too good… Bow down mere mortals.
Thief usefulness typically goes down with bigger groups so for zerging you may want to consider guardian or elementalist. Though balance is bad enough where you might just wanna go with what people are saying is OP for big zergs. I regret sometimes in WvW bringing a dagger/dagger ele instead of a staff ele (I switch between the two) since I get in this big group fights where staff is far more useful. Even in big fights however a single target guy could be good, if you have quick observational powers you can easily determine who the supports are and take them out. Worked very well as a rogue in Alterac Valley, though in GW2 you don’t have smokebomb or countless abilities that allow stunlocking.
I think I’ve done something decent. Let’s keep working on it , if we can reach :
2580 – 2680 puissance
2750 – 2850 armure
40 – 45% crit
195 – 205 dmg crit
16500 – 17500 hp
Here is the best build I’ve made yet
Counting the 6th bonus of DrD runes came up with this build 2766 power, 2700 armour, 18,4k hp:

I havent tested this build as i dont like high power, lower crit dmg, the crit chance is low but considering 100% after dodge (and as DrD you dodge-a-lot) + fury from trickery it is ok
As I play wvw organised groups mostly (sometimes zerg) the only thing that needs notice is when fighting in organised group you still need some sustain, de-target ability (stealth), and regen if not coming from group itself. Else you will get focused and no dodge will help you.
I am running with this build, and it is really nice in team fights:

Almost 2700 power, 2600 armour, 17k health, 51% crit chance and 220% crit damage:
It needs signets and food buffs to get the full stats. Here is the build without those:
