Before any talk of belonging in class forum or bug forum. this is various things and deserve to get attention soon.

I honestly believe thief has been and still are one of the most bugged classes(Weapon skills,class skill and skills in general)

And how the steal bug is still in place after over a year is just showing how much care Arenanet gives about the class.

When you steal it freezes you in place til death or Inf arrow(shortbow 5)/shadowstep.

I have experienced this bug 3 times the last two days but some days it is there some days its not. But It is game breaking for WvW.

I have been away from game for some months waiting for them to fix thief, but i came back to a even worse state then i left.

With last patch thief been put in a place where they are two ´viable´ builds for wvw. But truth is, if you want stealthy roamer or duelist you better off with Mesmer.

Every class has it´s strong side in game, but thief neither has pvp,pve or wvw. they simply reach such a lacking state.

Other classes has gotten small buffs, due to gear,skill and state changes making them stronger while thief been sitting stale with a few nerfs along the way. and I bet my coins that within the next 2 months the last two builds being GC zerker or tor P/D will get thrashed also.

People like their Guardians, Warrior, Ranger or whatever. We are a lot that like our thiefs but have to admit we are playing with huge handicap when it comes to 1vs1 agienst most classes(If a thief shouldnt shine in 1vs1, then when and how should they shine?) They have stealth but to be honest a Mesmer can be pretty dang stealthy along with clones,higher base hp,more boons and stunbreakers. they outshined.

Last patch buffs showed they have no clue how their own game and class within work.

So this thread is to get some attention and hopeful Arenanet will try to at least understand class before tweaking traits,skills or weapons any future. Its at it limit.

And. If you honestly think Thief is OP OP OP . you are one of lesser skilled player they doesn´t care about understanding a thief or pvp. A Good WvW or PvP player will have a good hand agienst a thief.

To Thief´s that will urge to call the L2P card. Whisper me ingame and ask for a duel/fight before getting kitteny.

Thief one of the most bugges profession ? looks like you never played Ranger or Engi, those 2 classes have many game breaking bugs.

A well played mesmer is stronger than most profession in 1vs1, but thief is still one of the most powerfull classes in small team fights,
I like to roam with a guild mate ( me bunker ele, he dd thief ), I usually do the bait and while foes are focused on me he kills them one by one with little help from me ( some KD/burst skill)

It looks like you are used to play the OP thief and now that it has been toned down you actually need to L2P.

WRONG. thief is on e ofthe 2 worst in teams….. if u look at total dmg in medium to large fightsm ixed with team productivity/skills used to help team or heals and buffs………. thief is last or tied for it. even with venom share bc hes used only once in 36-45 seconds then just auto attacking or dropping poison fields.

That’s your opinion and it’s a clearly wrong one.
Firstly there are no roles in this game.
Secondly Venom Share is a group spec and it was just buffed.

Besides what’s the point of playing a spec that everyone, especially rangers hate? Burnfall makes a daily stealth hate topic and you say the only thing it needs to do is burst/stealth aka what rangers hate most? You contradict your class representative man.

All is vain.

i agree thats what i was saying.

the best way to balance a class is give a rating to a few areas. Rate their total dmg output between all enemies, rate their buffs and fields for allies, rate their heals and dmg mitigation for allies, rate their defense so they can apply the 3 afformentioned areas.

once you rate these areas then average the out for a total class score. now im sure you will all do yours differently but wont be too far from the same.
score it from 0-100 for each section

Guardian
Dmg ouput (all enemies): 60/100
Buffs (all allies combined): 95/100
Dmg mitigation (all allies): 85/100
Survival (armor/hp etc): 90/100

THIEF
Dmg ouput (all enemies): 70/100 (yes 70 its mostly single target)
Buffs (all allies combined): 65/100 (would be lower w/o thrill and venomshare)
Dmg mitigation (all allies): 55/100 ( * See Below*)
Survival (armor/hp etc): 70/100

  • Only gave thief 55 on dmg mitigation bc i was counting only times that hes being productive, same as i did for guardian. cant be productive in group/zerg if you are invis hiding/healing. If i counted invis i would give him an 70 or MAYBE 75 **

AVERAGE SCORE FOR GUARDIAN: 82.5 out of 100
AVERAGE SCORE FOR THIEF: 65 out of 100

  • This is of course counting only group play and not 1 v 1 as i have yet to see a relevant 1v1 part of the game that has any “consequence” to it, which means if you kill 1v1 roamer it helps team/guild/world server……. in spvp/tpvp it can kinda help but usually its group play. 8 people per team and only a few nodes to capture… no reason for 1v1 really.

I never look at it that way, but I don’t think people chose thief because they want to support/heal theyr allies,
Even if there is no trinity it doesnt mean that there are no roles – Thief imo has a dps role inside a group and its very good at it, while a staff ele/guardian has a more a cc/support role.

Both are needed in every group fights, I always prefer to have at least 1 of both in my team

aye the boy has 100 reasons why he ´wont´ show me how pro thief he is.

But he is a Ranger player so i suppose it truely is a L2P from his side´ HUHUH thief dodged my longbow and 3 shot me full zerker build´.. Like any other class would.

This is not a thief-specific bug, but an issue with many teleport abilities. It happens to my elementalist quite a bit with Lightning Flash. Anet has said they’re trying to fix it.

I usually play a necromancer, when i get stolen from while activating my elite it puts my elite on full cooldown. Does this happen to any other classes?

Steal will not interrupt. Steal can be traited to give a standard daze effect and that will interrupt a skill and put it on cooldown.

How in the world did you come out with such butchered ratings? Damage output is probably closer to 85 or 90, buffs closer to 25 (absolutely no usable buffs for dungeons, protection only having a use in high level fractals)

THIEF

Our damage is still tied for 2nd place with cleave so that should be more like 90-95, buffs should be 80-90 for might stacking ability, damage mitigation should be 100 (stealth skip/evades), survival is ~ right.
(above is for pve)

@OP what is this steal bug you speak of? I guarantee you I have more time spent on my thief and I have yet to see this
edit: unless the “bug” is caused by a particular trait then I doubt it exists
