Hi guys!

I’m levelling a thief, he’s 65 at the moment.. Been playing around alot with traits.. and i’ve come down to the final two I like, which I’m thinking a few questions.

1. What gear is best for that trait? (I have no experience with 80 gear atm)
2. Which build would be better generally for PvE/WvWvW?

The builds are
20/30/0/20/0 (D/D or S/P & Shortbow)

This build has strong damage, but sustain is not so good even with signet of malice and assasin’s reward.

0/30/20/20/0 (D/D or S/P & Shortbow)

This build has toughness, vit, better sustain, better support with the shadow arts line and lesser damage. I kinda like this, but was wondering what gear would be best to go with in combination with this?

I personally like 10/30/30/0/0, 0/20/30/20/0, or 10/30/0/0/30. I usually run D/P and shortbow In wvw and I run withdraw, shadow refuge, shadow step, and infiltrators signet. For my elite I’ll use dagger storm and I gear myself with full zerk and ruby orbs.

For Zergs in WvW I’d use 0/30/20/20/0, Shortbow.
Soldier: Head, Legs, x2 Rings, possibly SB and Chest if I want more def.
Berserker: Everything else.
Signet of Malice or Withdraw, Shadowstep, Daggerstorm.

For Roaming and smaller groups 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/10/0

Works for both D/P and D/D.

For sword roaming 0/30/0/25/15, 10/30/0/30/0 or 10/30/0/0/30 and I also find this one really fun to play and troll with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlHuP3eNfmU
Usually full berserk, with some valkyrie or soldier depending on how many ppl I fight.
Shadow Trap solo, Shadow Refuge with friends.

For Dungeons I prefer 10/30/0/0/30 (50% group fury uptime), 10/30/0/30/0, 25/30/0/15/0, 30/30/10/0/0, 25/30/0/0/15. Full berserker, possibly some valkyrie if I feel glassy, or Soldier and Berserker in same setup as for WvW.

Signet of Malice or Withdraw for sword mainhand, HiS for Dagger mainhand.
And P/P and SB ready for times when it’s hard to melee.

Thanks for the help! ^-^ I’ll try around the builds. I’m liking the 0/30/20/20/0.. But kinda feel that Assassin’s Reward is a wasted trait on D/D. Perhaps 0/30/30/10 might be better.. but no idea what trait to use for the 30 points in toughness. Hmm..

I used this build for quite a good time, and I have to say I LOVED its survability and being able to combat high groups of mobs efficiently. Here’s it.

10-0-20-20-20
Use Mug for damage, heal and poison.
Use Gain initiative on stealth + stealth when using steal
Use the Falling damage trait OR might on dodge + Pain Response
Use Caltdrops + Thrill of Crime

Weapons are D/D and Shortbow.
Skills are Signet of Malice, Caltdrops, Signet of Shadows, Shadow Refuge and Dagger Storm
You can go either: Rabid armor with Berzerk Daggers, and mixed trinket between Rabid and Berzerk OR Full carrion OR full dire.

It all depends on if you want to crit, or have a nice base attack or being a plain condition dmg tank.

You mostly use STEAL and Death Blossom in this build, Signet of Malice is GODLY while you drop Caltdrops and not to mention the insta HP regen when doing Dagger Storm.

Very solid build, I loved it, I recommend it, easy to play, easy to damage people with SB and for getting away in WvW, effective in PvE.

I’m siding towards 30/30/10 atm. Just tried it out on AC, worked out pretty well. Lots of stealth and regens for team if i run with shadow protector. Just wondering if i should go Hidden Killer or Executioner ^-^ Any advice?
