Now I don’t have a thief or a human character so maybe there just something I don’t understand but… Why does almost every human thief I see wear the same armor(T3 Cultural armor)? I have seen some minor variants like females using the underbood top with the skirt or sneakthief leggings. I just find it funny how I can identify a thief a mile away because of the armor they choose.

The only other class/race combo that i see very often are Human female light armor(T3 Cultural armor again but with the blue or purple flower hairstyle) but that spans across all light classes. But for medium armor, it is just thieves. Even though all races/classes have some sort of common theme but Human thieves are the most obvious.

I am really into gw2 cosmetics so that is why I wanted to ask lol

Btw, I know that not everyone cares about how they look ingame but the question still stands why particular look is so common.

Note: I am not counting the default 80 exotic armor because many use that because it is easy to obtain.

Not everyone just uses T3, always feels common.

I used to use tier 3 for the longest time, but I recently decided to try something else. Honestly, people just go for t3 because it looks good and it doesn’t need much thought.

i too went back to the t3 top piece, but i had this combo for a long time. oh minus the dreamer :p

The glorious armor looks pretty decent for thief on almost all the races if you don’t like trench coats/capes.

I just want to say that I am totally aware of the many trenchcoats and things when it comes to medium armor fashion BUT as I have stated earlier, it is mostly just thieves who wear the same or similar style. Engies and rangers do have a common theme too but I rarely see them wearing similar armor unless it is the default 80 exotic medium armor and even that is not as common anymore :P

I think a lot of thieves go with the cultural tier armor because it’s a bit of a ‘first stop’ in fashion, above the terrible blue/green/yellow/exotic sets. That said, all of those skins can make a cool armor motif if combined in the right way.

I think with any outfit, on any class/race, it’s all about the mix and match.

I understand your point about all thieves looking the same, but I don’t necessarily agree that it’s much different from other classes. I think the biggest difference is most thieves are in black, in those same outfits. Where as other classes might go with more dyes.

I think a lot of thieves are looking for a style that says “assassin” though, and a lot of the available armor just doesn’t fit that bill. Engineers and rangers sort of fit the long trenchcoat style while thieves need something that won’t interfere with their acrobatic antics. Human T3 is “assassin’s” armor which makes it the obvious choice. “Sneak thief” with it’s throwing star shoes and tight fitting cut is also an obvious choice. There’s just not many choices that really say “thief” because of thier bulky design.

HotW and Heritage armor also make decent thief outfits.

I am actually starting to understand that now. With the other classes, you can do pretty much any style and still feel and look like the class you are because the available armor choices mostly fit the look. I guess with all the trenchcoats and things, that certain thief look is not something that gives many options? I am just guessing.

Some people use t3, some people use skinny jeans for their thieves, and some people run around is a chef outfit. Also it’s boring to have the same outfit for a long time so sometimes gotta switch it up. I for once went for a semi plated/leather heavyish feel. Have not seen many if any going for this thus far. Added the beard, the quiver, goes well with the “I’ve set out on an adventure to kick some kitten ” theme.

I just straight up use the Hexed Outfit. If I had a human I’d use the Ninja Outfit, but mine is an Asura I’ll post a screenshot later.

I have the T3 cultural full set, but like you, I found it boring.

I had the “underboob” for a long time, but i got bored of it some time ago. now i am in love with the krytan skin.

I’ve run full duelist with reading glasses and shoulders hidden since before time itself and its still my favorite look in game.

I am not a fan of T3 female human armor (with the exception of the shoes…those sandals are adorable!). I have my thief dressed in a Noble Outfit, so I don’t have to worry about piecing together something that isn’t going to make my female thief look like she’s a stripper. I know it’s Gem fashion, but I seriously love that outfit. I was running around with the Krytan Human armor top I got from buying the game initially and the T1 human pants. That set covered what needed to be covered and didn’t make her look like she should be carrying around a staff in which to twirl around for silver.

You don’t need to have T3 or be a human for that matter to look good .
