Hello all,

I just started a thief as an alt, and I really like the class. I have searched the forums looking for great thief guides, but I have not found what I am looking for. Would you be able to suggest some great thief guides in the following areas:

1. Can you recommend a good general overview guide of the thief class including overview of different builds and roles?

2. Can you recommend a good thief leveling guide?

3. Can you recommend a good thief WvW guide?

4. Can you recommend a good thief pvp guide?

Guide I made to the build I run in WvW, the build has a pretty high skill cap and may not be best for a first build, but there is some general info that would apply to any build in it…..

I’m in the same boat as the OP. Rolled a new Thief and am looking for a guide with tips and advice geared towards leveling/pve.

I understand that many people don’t think advice for leveling is needed. However, I find the thief to be a very different play style from the other professions and would just like to find input on how to be effective.

I’m with OP and PhoenixSon. I need a leveling guide. Currently using dual pistols and a shortbow. Can’t seem to figure out anything better than those for pve leveling. Any of you higher levels out there, please help. Thanks.

From a new 80 thief to those leveling, try everything. I know it’s not much of a guide per se, but until you get to 60 you should be testing all the weapons out until you find something that you are comfortable with. The Dagger dagger Death blossom with caltrops is good for ae damage. While sword pistol in the blind field will work for melee fights using the blind area to just stand and tank. For myself when I finally got to 60 I just did WvW zerg fights to lvl, it got me good karma and fast exp. If you can find a ghank group to tag along with in WvW the exp flows in, but if your server is capping towers hop on that train asap. Once 80 I have been back in PVE farming gear in Orr with Karma vendors. Just some things to get you going.

I’m using S/P because of Pistol Whip + Blind. IMO its the best viable option for leveling, but anything should work. It all depends on playstyle + preference.

EDIT: Lvl 80 thief playing since beta weekend.
