Guild Wars 2

I am going to create a Thief of some sort and I am struggling to choose between Human and Asura. I have a lvl. 65 Human Mesmer which I regret (like REALLY regret) not making an Asura, but I like the way medium armor look on humans. The animations on Asura is cool, but the weapons look better on humans.
I know this is a subjective matter, but what did you guys choose and why?

I don’t like the way armours are done on asura. I’m a very aesthetics sorta guy and having the best looking armour to me is just as important as having the right stats. I have an Asura ele and Asura mesmer and I can safely say I wish I had made them human. I have a human thief and don’t think about being other races when playing him since I actually am able to enjoy the armour on him.

Functionality wise however, asura work a lot better at mentally messing with an opponent and makes you a smaller target; although this is minimal now since people have gotten used to it, except new players.

Asura are fantastic but the daggers are so small on them i ended choosing a charr, i love the way armour looks on them as opposed to humans (im the minority on this i think). not only that the lore for Charr and Asura’s are more intreaging than the humans in my opinion and more room for unique expansion. (humans god story’s have been done before)

But as for your choice i would choose human daggers are nice proportions and the armour looks great, my one regret about my asura Mesmer (main) is the armour detail its just SO small, the weapons don’t bother me much but the armour as of late is quite a bit (still love him though).

Asura has the best animations, but medium armor looks like kitten if you want to look like a thief. Weapons are really small, so you can’t expect them to stand out from the crowd. Tactically we have a huge advantage since animations are way smaller than humans animations!

Have done some more testing of the Asura and the animations are cool, but you are right. The weapons…….
Also tried a Charr for a bit actually. Not sure what I think of it yet.
Story-wise I don`t know who has the best.
Sylvari and Norn are still a no-go. No interest in them whatsoever.

Human

Why? They have the best racial in the game and is on a 12sec CD.

Humans do look pretty good in a lot of armor, particularly the cultural armor. I like Asura too, but I’d rather go with a heavy armor class for that race.

The Asura dodge animation doesn’t have the cool blur animation that the other races get. That helped sway me to human

Asura due to the vivid animations.. Love the ears goes up when you fight
Would love some betrer animations for the others races though
Even more beastial for the charrs (aldo make unique armour for all the head gear plz!!)
Parkour/more gracefull for humans.
For sylvan I am thinking inspiration from the far east like tai-chi or qi-gong:)
Norn lets feelthe brute force and desperation for survival!

While you are playing you are not looking at your armor and weapons. At least I hope not since you’d be dead 90% of the time. And if you choose a race based on the time when you will have a chance to admire your equipment (while standing) in LA you would be better off with watching porn instead. Or just zoom in, that also works.

Asura!

a. on demand daze if you like to play heavy daze build
b. 15 seconds of AoE Weakness and poison

2. It will be more difficult for your opponents to read you in combat since you will have smaller animations in WvW and in PvP

3. Felicia Day! I am a fan of Felicia Day and she does the voice acting for a lot of the Asura Story (Personal Preference)

Pros -

Asura – smaller… which means easier to hide behind things and less of your screen is blocked by your own character. Less visible animations, better racials (but your class utilities are almost always going to be better anyways).

Humans – Distract them with revealing clothing! CAUTION: This may be a risk to the player as well. You can see legendary weapons and don’t feel kitten y putting one on a human.

I’m going to throw a curveball and say Sylvari! They can glow in the dark whatever colour you want, have really interesting cultural armor and all kinds of crazy skin colours.

But Asura thieves are kinda like (new…old?) Yoda with the evades, which is very cool.

The new armor doesnt look to terrible without the hat/shoulders/gloves too, but I cant find any nice gloves to go with it =/

i am not particularly fond of Dan H. but i try hard to be as unbiased as possible when i post. Dan H. is actually correct here. they DO have a smaller hit box than other characters. i have myself….tested this and concluded without a doubt its true, even despite what claims have been made by anet. i can make a video but dnot feel like it. if somebody puts up a bet to prove me wrong i will…. hope this helped

Anet wouldnt design their game to give asurans an inherent advantage over everyone else. If their hit box is smaller, their range is also reduced.

Then why aren’t all the hardcores running an all asura team in PvP?
