Thief - Human or Sylvari or Other
My opinion is that you should invoke the power of the coin.
The coin is a mighty tool, but it is only as powerful as you make it. Invoke the coin, heads humans and tails sylvari. Whatever the result is, roll with it.
My vote is for charr. because charr are awesome, and also ash legion
This can only ever be totally subjective, but a few things I found.
Even the smallest Charr you can make is still huge. I’d maybe save the Charr option for if you fancy making a more brutal, in yer face assault class – where they look fantastic.
Sylvari give me the ‘Day of the Triffids’ creeps, so not much I can say about those. I’m pretending that mine’s an Elf rather than hive-mind plant person.
Humans can be dressed up to look absolutely gorgeous; but their idle animations nerf makes them seem a bit flat… like they’re now nothing but really good looking mannequins. A lot of the weapons get scaled up to look too big on humans, and their weapons drawn, idle (and some of their fighting) animations look extremely clumsy and phoned in compaired to when Asuras do them.
The street rat story does work well with a human Thief, but how much of your total playing time will have anything to do with that story? Thief is so UP atm that you might find that there’s nowhere near enough slack in your build to accommodate the racial skill that you want.
Dunno, I intended my main to be a human Thief, but all of the above made me decide to pretty much ditch her and go Asura instead. Plus humans (at least the female ones) now have the added problem that they can’t stop cursing “May Lyssa confound you!” to anyone and everyone, or even when they’re stood on their own.
Obviously you’ll make your own choice, but the only thing that I can really help you with is this: If you decide to go Asura, but the tiny daggers are doing your head in, have a play around with the bank’s wardrobe skins feature with your Asura Engi.
If you find a dagger skin that you particularly like the look and size of, and it doesn’t cost more than ~7 gold, then please send me an in game mail and I’ll buy and send you that dagger. Merry Christmas, and all that.
Charr has the best heartseeker animation of the game :V
Regardless of what you pick, don’t use norm. And use the smallest size character you can have.
Some thief skills have very low range, and it sucks when you character animation has more range than your skill tip.
I always advice people Sylvari because unlike humans, it’s really hard to make a cliche or boring looking sylvari. There’s a lot of customisation options for it.
But if you plan to make a sylvari ranger already, or maybe you don’t have many humans, you can still go human. It’s just harder to feel unique as a human thief, everyone wear the same stuff.
Nooctae ( Thief ) / Encelya ( Engineer ) / Jane Crimson ( Elementalist ) / Kowywr ( Revenant )
Europe, Vizunah.
Sylvari 100% purely because you get the non trench coatiest armour
if you like female characters as you sounded to you should realy do human… they are gorgeous.
Chars thiefs are clumsy imo, they are too big and makes no sense for me… also chars are not ‘’dark or sexy’’ they are or majestic or cute… well because they are lions or kitties lol.
Sylvaris are slaves to mordremoth you should make a class that has free will (trolling but i`m racist to plant people, the only cool sylvari is canach)
Asuras seem to have the most interesting storys, human story is kind of boring… if you like asuras I ll go as one because beeing a asura is a advantage for a thief, because beeing small helps a thief, makes you slightly harder to notice and select.
(about the Lyssa confound you!) is not only to humans… all classes greet to nothing from time to time, is barely noticiable.
