Thief Leveling Build
the most efficient builds are D/D with condition damage gear and caltrops, so you can death blossom and kite all day, and S/P which can use Black powder and pistol whip to blind/evade tank all day long. both make good use of signet of malice, caltrops, and points in acrobatics. put points into trickery and acrobatics for DB spam (and deadly arts helps too, but only in 10 point increments to get extra DB ticks) and critical strikes and acrobatics for S/P. both can take on groups of opponents with ease, so chose your favorite and go crazy, but be aware the DB build has an easier time of it against enemies of higher levels since bleeds don’t glance.

Always use items with power. its the most useful stat for you. If you strugle surviving you can add vitality and toughnes. If you get used to your thief mechanics, add precision and condition damage instead. D/D is the most efficient set while leveling. Others have different benefits, but the fastest nuker is D/D with classic CnD-backstab-HS spam. For events and such You can use SB for nice AoE dmg and safety of range.
For utility, take shadow refuge for emergency or traveling safely while evedaing unnecassary combat, take signet of shadows for faster movement and emergency blind, third is up to you. I’d take skale venom for weakness, ambush for a thief friend or tripwire for extra immobility. Thief army combined with ambush can nuke any veteran like a normal mob and help you with skill chalenges.
For traits, putting 10 points in power is a must because Mug makes your steal does damage. I’d put the rest into power and precision because of the extra dmg. Also you can find useful things in shadow arts first tier. But it’s up to you again. This way you can move like a truck while hiding some tricks in your sleeve for surprises.
It’s not the most survival build. It focuses on direct burst damage for mostly stationary targets and clearing open world as fast as possible.

I can attest to what Gungnir Grimm says. I’m currently leveling a thief and D/D using Death Blossom + Caltrops is ridiculously strong. I’ve leveled a Ranger and Engineer to 80, and a Guardian and Ele into the 40s. I’m quite familiar with all the zones I’ve used to get the levels on my characters and I can say that without a doubt that this thief has been an absolute breeze to level compared to all the others. There are certain skill point challenges that have proven to be tricky for the other classes I’ve played, but they’ve been a joke on this thief. If I’m not fighting a minimum of 4 mobs on my thief, I feel like I’m going slow and easy.
This thief is the first class where I’m actually doing my story lines quests when they are 2 to 3 levels higher than me just to make them challenging. In the past I’ve always waited until I’m at least the same level or slightly over the level of the story line quest.
This profession levels crazy fast.
