Hey fellow Thief mates

I actually look at the idea of playing as Thief with some Summoner similiar Idea in mind.
The idea is to use the Ambush Trap with the Trap cooldown reduction and ofc the Elite Skill Thiefs Guild, to have mostly some Allied Thief´s around for Support.
I would also prefer to use primarily a Dagger/Pistol Combination to hit the Enemy Fast and be able to blind him (or them) often.
Its more an idea of being an Tanky Thief which focus on Vitality and Thoughness to avoid Damage.

I would say that allied thiefs and a Tanky Build are a good Combination, and i bet it could also Work well in Dungeons, because if you can support your allied thiefs you can ofc also support other Players.

Its just an Idea actually but i would gladly here some Opinions about that idea and maybe your experience with that Thief calling Skills.

I’ve had thoughts of making a build like that as well, but I quickly disregarded it because of how long the cd on thief’s guild is. Not only that, tanky thieves don’t really mean too much in pve because they still die within 1-3 hits. Plus, a necro does this type of job better.

So you mean fighting with self-called allies is more Effectiv as Necromancer with Summons?

Venom share builds can be very effective when used with ally-summoning skills. I’d be curious to know, though, if the sylvari-summoned turrets can benefit from venom share.

I honestly think so, since necros have more cc’s and aoe’s to deal with, alongside being ranged and have more synergy with minions. A thief with allies is really just there for a minor distraction or to produce some more dps.

Played thief summoning build with traps, and thiefs guild and venoms share, its pathethicly insanely good at some situations and at other ones its realy realy bad as your adds are ccable and not smart enough to move out of AoE’s so all 3-4 thiefs you have summoned at a time sometimes die in 1 aoe, decreasing your damage by half at least. Out of dungeons it works nicely, and you can dominate any type of mob, however even if it makes things easier, the actaul time of getting experiance is slower, as you need to wait for cds, for max effect. I would rate this build not on par with others.

I’ve tried different combinations. I’m currently using my usual S/D template with a few alterations with Ambush. Thieves guild is nice, but as someone mentioned the cooldown just doesn’t warrant taking it over Dagger Storm….still, I use Thieves Guild often regardless but I really can’t recommend it over the other. Those thieves disintegrate fast in aoe so I think that Ambush coupled with my S/D field control works best for myself at least.

It’s difficult to even consider putting Ambush on your bar if you WvWvW often, but after using it for awhile now and assisting my thief with crowd control and lockdowns on top of my own damage while it assists me with skills and combos I don’t have on my bar has opened up some fun sequences. I’ve ganked some siege here and there with Ambush and Thieves Guild as a quick force multiplier though any heavy aoe defense there and I’m toast.
