Thief PVE Builds?
Re-roll to a new class, thief probably wont even be taken in raids so you are only hurting yourself
S/P with DA/CS/TR is perfectly good for most PvE content – good damage and cleave, plus a ton of interrupts and blind to shut down foes while you kill them.
If you are interested in raiding, roll a Revenant.
The damage output of Thief regardless of build and weapon is nothing compare to other professions. I rolled Thief, Ranger, Rev, and Necro (didn’t got a chance to roll all professions) and by comparison, Necro has the highest DPS IMO and Thief’s damage is negligible.
The Thief survivability is not upto par either. It’s the difference between active and passive protection.
Basically, the game mode’s difficulty leve is based on which profession you pick.
Easy Mode – any soldier (Warrior, Guardian, Rev) and Engi
Normal Mode – all scholars (Ele, Necro, Mes) and Ranger
Hard Mode – all non-Thief wearing blue gears
Nightmare Mode – fully equip Thief
Play Thief at your own risk — you won’t enjoy yourself.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Wow. You guys make it sound like if you roll a thief it’s basically, abandon all hope ye who enter here…
lol it depends on build, this is is for daredevil btw but you can use deadly arts while it comes out
massive condition damage and massive survavility with dire stats, perma evasion, and healing ticks rain with signet of malice, veterans and elite mobs will die of agony with 30+ stacks of bleed while waving their arms trying to touch you
used it today on raid and my squad loved me

It’s perfectly good for most of PvE. It moves very quickly around the map and has access to a lot of bursts of speed, which is very convenient for most anything you’d want to do in the open world. Thief damage also has little ramp up time, killing trash very quickly, and the spammable control from Black Powder, interrupts, and stealth give you a lot of tools even when running around as a full glass character.
It’s only really a problem for difficult content (raids, possibly very high fractals) where the thief’s lack of sustained damage (it doesn’t need to ramp up, but it doesn’t ramp up) and poor group utility are hard to overcome. There’s very little reason to take a thief in a raid where you’re not darting around the map or making heavy use of stealth, when a revenant does about 50% more DPS and provides a ton of boons to the group as well.
Yea . . . just tried mine out again. Sucks now.
They’ve destroyed my favorite character class. /tear
Whoever was in charge of these class changes (thief changes) should be fired.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the build suggestions.
Been trying them, and all I can say is this class is not fun at all anymore.
This is why I keep a max level of each class. Being a game with pvp I figured that pve fun would get screwed over for pvp balance. Also figured they would pull a WoW with a class wheel of sorts. Every so often rotate the class wheel for which one gets to be on top.
Hate that thief is now on the bottom of the wheel.
Makes me hate pvp.
